  • Ribbon Cutting of the Re-Imagined World of Disney at Disney Springs

Ribbon Cutting of the Re-Imagined World of Disney at Disney Springs

As we previously reported, World of Disney in Disney Springs opened to the public after a year of renovations. Saturday, October 27th, was their official Ribbon Cutting celebration and we can report we have found the Magic everyone has been looking for!

As Disney Imagineers began to work on re-imagining the old World of Disney they uncovered even more hidden Disney magic. You see, this used to be an old Farmer’s Market. After being abandoned for many years, it was taken over by young designers and artists who turned it into a bustling Disney animation studio. They moved on to Hollywood Studios, but this remodel has uncovered all the magic they left behind!

Vintage line drawings from the Disney vault hang on the wall, and come alive before your eyes. The exposed brick you’ll see throughout the store is all reclaimed from old buildings. Jars of paint left over from the artists decorate the shelves, and if you wait and watch you might even find a little pixie dust was left behind with the jars that helps other paintings dance and play. (Check out the video on Instagram: @MerlinsCauldron) If you look closely you’ll even see a subtle nod to Mickey in the jars of paint.

Look out for moving projections on the floors and walls. We were informed by Disney Cast Members that these will updated with the season’s, holiday’s, and when new Disney movies come out. So there will always be something new to see! The wall behind Belle is a montage of classic and new Disney Princesses, with a fireworks show at the end. If it’s quiet in the store you can even hear the fireworks going off!

The chandeliers above Cinderella are made of tiara’s and wands sold in the store, and Cinderella and Belle’s dresses are made up of hundreds of princess dolls.

There’s even magic at the registers, which are made from Imagineering desks. They’re full of classic movie references, and are covered with Disney doodles.

Stay tuned for an upcoming video walkthrough to be posted on the Disney Dorks Facebook page. On your next visit to the re-imagined World of Disney  take time to look for any hidden details I might have missed, and let us know in the comments what you think of the big reveal!

  • FIRST LOOK: Brand New Merchandise Debuting at the New World of Disney

FIRST LOOK: Brand New Merchandise Debuting at the New World of Disney

As we previously reported, World of Disney in Disney Spring has been undergoing a major remodel this year. It’s finally open and yesterday we got a Sneak Peek at all the new changes!

World owf Disney is the flagship retail destination featuring the world’s largest collection of Disney theme merchandise; and the remodel fits in perfectly with the 1930’s American Craftsman style in this section of Disney Springs.

The separate, disjointed room of the old store have all been opened up to create a better flow, with wide open walkways for guests. The new World of Disney now feels more like an upscale department store.

The new Mouseketeer Collection also debuted yesterday at World of Disney. This brand new collection has just the right amount of vintage nostalgia mixed with updated styles and fabrics. A Disney merchandise spokesman told me that this line will probably make its way to the parks in November 2018.

Christmas merchandise was also on display! Many of this years designs feature a ‘Nordic Christmas’ pattern, which is carried out on pajamas, apparel, pillows, and other family friendly items. The second holiday collection is ‘Turn of the Century’, which focuses on items like signs, ornaments, and some home goods like soup mugs, and plates.

I think this redesign is simply Magical and certainly worth checking out on your next trip to Disney Springs! Let us know in the comments what you think.

Stay tuned next week for another article detailing the official Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony taking place soon, and more articles delving deeper into the Mouseketeer and Christmas lines!

  • REVIEW: A Visit to Sebastian’s Bistro at Caribbean Beach Resort

REVIEW: A Visit to Sebastian’s Bistro at Caribbean Beach Resort

As we reported earlier this year, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has been undergoing major transformations. Their newest table-service restaurant, Sebastian’s Bistro, is now open and as Sebastian would say, Jumpin’ Jellyfish! We predict it’s going to be a hit with guests.

As you’re seated your host will welcome you to Sebastian’s beach house, and that’s exactly how the décor feels. Light and airy, with honey colored wood floors, and lots of crisp white and sky blue décor, it feels like you’ve stepped away from a hectic life ‘under the sea’ to a breezy Caribbean hideaway.

This restaurant features Caribbean and Latin inspired fare, with different menus for lunch and dinner. We stopped in for some appetizers, drinks, and dessert. I would have to say that my favorite appetizer was the Jamaican Meat Pies; they are a generous size and came with a Guajillo Chili Sauce that had just the right amount of heat. For dessert we tried the Banoffee Tart, which has banana custard, chocolate ganache, and caramel sauce, all in a graham cracker crust.

The Bistro is located on the waterfront of Old Port Royale promenade, with large windows filling the walls that overlook the water, and open shutters that allow sunlight to fill the space.

Pretty much every table at Sebastian’s has a waterfront view. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and we can’t wait to dive into their dinner menu!

Sebastian’s Bistro takes the Disney Dining Plan (1 Table Service Credit), and Passholders receive a discount.

  • Holiday Fun Coming to Toy Story Land This November

Holiday Fun Coming to Toy Story Land This November

Toy Story Land will be joining in the Holiday fun this year with decorations, holiday music, and special outfits for your favorite characters!

Starting November 8th, 2018 guests will greeted with new holiday decor, including oversized cranberry-and-popcorn garland, the chance to take a holiday card “selfie” of “Toy Story” pals, an oversized Hamm sugar cookie, Green Alien ornaments and more. There will also be holiday music to really spruce up this new land! Guests will hear sleigh bells ringing on Slinky Dog Dash, while Alien Swirling Saucers will offer two holiday tracks, and holiday themed lighting.

Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear don’t want to be left out of the fun, so they’ll be joining in the festivities with new holiday accessories. Woody’s trading in his cow print vest for a red holiday version, featuring a Christmas tree, and a present. He’s also adding an oversized candy cane to his holster, which looks like a perfect photo prop to me! Jessie will be wearing a green vest with peppermints adorning it, and Buzz is celebrating with a sparkly Santa hat.

Exclusive Club 33 Location Entrance at Magic Kingdom Has Been Found

As we previously reported, all four Disney World theme parks will getting their own version of the exclusive Club 33, and we now have pictures of the Adventureland location in Magic Kingdom.

It is situated on the right, as you cross the bridge into Adventureland. The balcony, which faces the castle, will give members an amazing view of the fireworks each night.

A speaker system and Magic Band scanner has been installed at a separate entrance, which grants you access to the main door. The speaker is used to communicate with guests coming in and it is a very similar system to what is set up outside Club 33 at Disneyland.

This location is expected to open in Fall of 2018. Membership has already been opened to residents of Golden Oak, Disney World’s Private Living Community. As of now these new Club 33 locations are rumored to be lounges offering drinks and small bites only.

The initial price to join is $33,000. Annual membership fee is $15,000.

  • Trip Report: Playing At Toy Story Land During Disney’s Early Morning Magic

Trip Report: Playing At Toy Story Land During Disney’s Early Morning Magic

Are you ready to Play Big at the new Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Now you can take advantage of Disney Early Morning Magic, which allows you entry into Andy’s backyard before the park opens!

I got to experience this magical time first hand and we were able to ride Slinky Dog 3 times with no wait, and met Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear. This limited entry experience guarantees little to no wait times, character meets, and breakfast. This is the perfect opportunity to zoom around Andy’s Backyard on Slinky Dog Dash, escape into space on Alien Swirling Saucers, and rack up some points on Toy Story Mania.

I’m all about the pictures, so if you want amazing PhotoPass pictures, then this is the event for you. Below are a few of the photos we took last week and as you can see it looks like we’re the only ones in the Park!

The experience also includes a continental buffet featuring yogurt, fruit, pastries, and assorted cereal as well as your choice of a tasty main dish like avocado toast or fried chicken and donuts with maple glaze. The breakfast setup will be available at the ABC Commissary, a quick service dining location outside of Toy Story Land.

After you’re done eating and riding I recommend taking some time to soak in the ambiance on Hollywood Boulevard. There are a lot of little hidden details in this part of the park. Don’t forget to look up at the windows! When the park opens at Rope Drop most guests will be heading to Toy Story Land, so this is the perfect opportunity to get more great pictures around the park with no people in them.
