  • Five Facts We Know About Toy Story Land

Five Facts We Know About Toy Story Land

It’s 2018 and quite possibly the best thing about this year is the long-awaited grand opening of Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In this new land guests will shrink to the size of a toy so they are able to explore Andy’s backyard, which is filled with toys from the “Toy Story” films.

Here are five things we know about Toy Story Land so far.

    Toy Story Land

    1. You Can View The Toy Story Land Model Now At Walt Disney Presents – Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can view the Toy Story Land model in person at the Walt Disney Presents exhibit. The full model is on display, as well as ride vehicle maquettes for both Alien Swirling Saucers and Slinky Dog Dash.

    Toy Story Land

    2. Slinky Dog Dash Looks Sweet! – This a family coaster themed as if Andy built it in his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit and some of his other favorite toys. The attraction’s adorable ride vehicles were inspired by Slinky from the film and will send guests dipping, dodging and dashing around Toy Story Land.

    Toy Story Land

    3. Toy Story Friends Like Rex, Jessie, Sarge & Others Can Be Spotted In The Land – Late last year, Rex and Jessie were installed as a part of the Slinky Dog Dash attraction. A peek at the rendering of Woody’s Lunchbox hints at even more characters that will soon be added, like Sarge.

    Toy Story Land

    4. Guests Will Dine At Woody’s Lunchbox – Andy has used his lunch box and thermos to create a walk-up quick-service window that will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats. In the rendering above, you can see that Woody’s Lunch Box is surrounded by some of Andy’s favorite toys and lunch items. Stay tuned to the blog in the coming months for specific menu details.

    5. It Opens This Summer At Disney’s Hollywood Studios! – We don’t have an exact opening date yet, but be sure we’ll post it as soon as we know.

  • Bluetooth Allows Guests To Open Room Without Tapping MagicBand

Bluetooth Allows Guests To Open Room Without Tapping MagicBand

Wouldn’t it be great if you could open your Walt Disney World Resort room door without having to tap your MagicBand. That just might be a reality with Disney adding bluetooth functionality to MagicBands.

Rumors popped up all over the internet Tuesday about Disney adding Bluetooth functionality to MagicBands and that means no more ‘Mickey to Mickey’ as the cast members say. It also means no spinning that MagicBand around on your wrist trying to get the MagicBand in the right spot to tap and when you have bags full of merchandise in hands.

First Disney introduced MagicBands with RF technology that allowed keyless entry which made things easier, but now they are adding another technology to MagicBands to make it even easier to get in your room. And if the rumours are true that’s Bluetooth Technology, which should allow guest to open their resort room door just by being near it.  Disney is always looking to expand ways to use new technology to create new and amazing Guest experiences and enhanced Guest service.

Reports say that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be the first to test out the new Bluetooth functionality.  This would mean that guests wouldn’t have to actually touch their MagicBand to the door at these resorts and they would be able to open the door with their MagicBand just by being near it.

The bluetooth tech has technically always been in the MagicBands, but this would be the first time they have made use of it and the possibilities are limitless. No word yet as to if park entry, FastPass+, Dining Plan, etc. will start use the technology as well, but that would be the next logical step.  There is no official word on this from Disney yet, so we will have to wait and see.

  • Detectives Investigating Mimi Kaboom Actresses Death as Possible Suicide

Detectives Investigating Mimi Kaboom Actresses Death as Possible Suicide

Stacy Fulford, who played Mimi Kaboom in Streetmosphere at Hollywood Studios passed away Thursday and investigators are now saying it was not an accident or natural causes.

We spoke to officials at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office who confirmed there is an active investigation in to the beloved cast members death. “The evidence suggests suicide”, according to detectives. “We can say no foul play is suspected in the death of Ms. Fulford-Morreale.” OCSO’s spokesperson Jane Watrel said.

OCSO responded to a call for an attempted suicide at 1:10am on the morning of December 28th and they arrived on the scene minutes later. She was pronounced deceased at her home, but the exact circumstances are still unclear at this time as it is still an ongoing investigation. According to the medical examiner’s office the preliminary cause of death is suicide pending toxicology results of course.  No further information is available at this time until detectives conclude the investigation and the medical examiners report is finalized.

There has been an outpouring of support for the actress who was only 29 years old. The recent news came as such a shock to friends, cast members and fans alike, as she was adored by all who knew her. Her daily performances in the park and infectious spirit brought so much joy to guests and her loss is felt by so many.

We talked to several of her friends who shared their feelings and memories. Those close to Stacy recall her as a person of high character who could entertain anyone. “She was kind, talented, contiguously fun, and just frankly, better than i can properly put into words.” one friend said. Another friend said, “There was a levity to being around her that’s hard to find. Plus that huge smile of hers could brighten anyone’s day.”

One of Stacy’s closest college friends, Chaya (Erica) Goldman recalled, “She was so beautiful and so funny, so committed.” She continued, “Stacy was a ball of sunshine. She could make anybody laugh.”

She posted her fond memories recently on Facebook.

Fans from all over the world took to the internet to show their support for the entertainer as well.

Fulford worked full-time at Walt Disney World as a Citizen of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well as various other venues around the parks. Specializing in improvisation, she was also skilled in and passionate about both Shakespeare and musical theatre. Outside of Disney, Stacy could be seen onstage at various theatres around the greater Orlando area. She was also very passionate about rescue animals and rescued her dog and cat and encouraged others to rescue as well.

Stacy was loved so much and was a light to all who knew her and her light will shine forever. Our sympathies go out to her family, friends and to all the Citizens of Hollywood who worked with her. Memorial Services for Stacy Fulford take place on Sunday January 7, 2018 at 2:00pm at Indian River City United Methodist Church in Titusville, FL Florida.

  • NEW Wreck-it Ralph 2 Teaser Breaks the Internet

NEW Wreck-it Ralph 2 Teaser Breaks the Internet

Disney rang in the new year by releasing a new teaser for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 on Monday. The teaser is short, but sweeter than Sugar Rush and shows Ralph wrecking his way through 2017 and right into 2018.

The highly-anticipated animated sequel picks up six years after the original. This time around, after their old-fashioned arcade is connected to a Wi-Fi router, they find themselves on an adventure that takes them across the world wide web.

Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz, now long time friends, will return as they move on from the arcade game world to exploring the infinitely more vast universe of the internet. John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman are also back as the voices of Ralph and Vanellope.

Some footage from Wreck-It Ralph 2 first debuted last summer at Disney’s D23 Expo, but this is the first taste of a teaser that Disney has released. Fans will be anxiously awaiting a full trailer, but Disney is clearly ready to start getting fans excited about seeing Ralph start wrecking again.

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 hits theaters on November 21, 2018.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Forces Its Way To $1 Billion Worldwide

In only three weeks Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” has blasted past $1 billion in worldwide box office sales to close out 2017. While many critics have given the latest installment rave reviews, there have been mixed reviews from general audiences, but if the box office sales are any indication then this film is no scruffy-looking nerf herder.

“The Last Jedi” pulled in $120.4 million globally on the New Year’s Eve weekend with $52.4 million at 4,232 domestic venues and an additional $68 million internationally. All this before the significant boost it will receive when it opens in its final market on Jan. 5 in China.

On the final day of 2017, “The Last Jedi” has surpassed Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” as the top grossing film in North America for 2017. According to studio estimates on Sunday, “The Last Jedi” brings its domestic total $517.1 million after it’s haul this weekend, while Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” totals $504 million for the year.

“The Last Jedi” is now the eighth highest-grossing domestic movie of all time with $517.1 million and 24th on the worldwide chart with $1.04 billion. The eighth film in the “Star Wars” saga premiered in North America on December 14 to the second-biggest opening ever and is second only to its predecessor, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which debuted in 2015.

“The Last Jedi” is already close to surpassing “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” which brought in $1.06 billion in revenue last year. The last numbered Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, stands at $2.07 billion, ranking it third place all time after its December 2015 premiere.

While the film may crack the top ten globally, odds are it wont come close to “Force Awakens” numbers.  But as Han Solo would say, “Never tell me the odds!”

Directed by Rian Johnson, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” picks up where “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” left off. It stars returning cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Andy Serkis. New stars include Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, and Benicio del Toro.

UPDATE: Magic Kingdom Now Re-Open to All Guests

After closing to some guests earlier today, Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World is once again open to all guests.

In their most recent Twitter update, Disney said, “As of 5:30pm Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park are available to all Guests.”

Magic Kingdom was temporarily closed at 11:30am today.  It was a Phase B closure which means no admission of guests with one day tickets, and no re-entering or crossing over from another park unless they are staying on property, have an annual pass and a few other exceptions.

Guests will again start pouring in to ring in the new year so don’t be surprised if there is another closure before the night is through. Or in this case before the year is through.
