Spirit Airlines is known as the ultra-low-cost carrier from Florida, but it’s also known for skimping on customer comfort and service. Disney is known as one of the leaders in customer service in the world. So if there is any company you would want to help get your customer service rating back up then Disney is your best bet.
The airline acknowledges it’s problems with timeliness and customer service and has turned to a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Co. for help. In a message to employees this week, Spirit Airlines President and Chief Executive Bob Fornaro said the airline has partnered with the Disney Institute to “create a common purpose and a fresh set of service standards.”
Disney, which is consistently voted one of the best places to work in the country, is helping other companies achieve similar cultural success through the Disney Institute, a Florida-based subsidiary that offers professional development and leadership training for a variety of students. Courses include training in quality service, employee engagement, and business excellence — all of which are areas Spirit Airlines is due to improve on.
“We listen to our guests every day to find out how we can deliver a better travel experience with Spirit,”
said Bob Fornaro, Spirit Airlines’ CEO in the statement.
“Our operational improvement and new technology demonstrates our commitment to deliver reliable, friendly service, all while offering the lowest fares possible.”
According to a Spirit press release from November 15, much of the training has already taken place behind the scenes, and they say,
“Every Spirit Flight Attendant participated in Spirit Signature Service training, a new program developed around a common purpose and fresh set of service standards created in partnership with the Disney Institute; additional training will roll out at our airport stations next year,”
Whether the Disney training will directly result in that friendly service only time will tell, but the House of Mouse does know a thing or two about keeping people happy.
Do you remember Beaver Tails? Yeah. The ones from Trapper Bob’s Beaver Tails kiosk once located in Epcot’s Canada pavilion. Last seen more than a decade ago. Well one of the biggest rumors of the week was the possible return of BeaverTails to Walt Disney World. With BeaverTails showing up at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Last week to introduce its new food cart speculation has been flying.
The Canadian kiosk touted “A flat cooked whole wheat pastry, shaped like the tail of Canada’s favorite animal!” You could have your Beaver Tail (basically fried dough) made with: cinnamon and sugar; chocolate hazelnut and sugar; maple and chocolate; strawberries and whipped cream; apples and cinnamon; and Killaloe sunrise (cinnamon sugar with freshly squeezed lemon juice).
According Ohio-based theme park news site WildGravity Travels, BeaverTails may be headed to Disney Springs. It’s possible the famous BeaverTails in the new Disney Springs location may also sell hot dogs wrapped in the pastries, poutine, and specialty drinks the post says.
Last time we saw them on property was at the Canada Pavilion at Epcot, this time will reportedly be much different and bigger! While were not sure if it will be a cart, trailer or actual building the process and talks have reportedly started.
At one time the small kiosk in the Canadian pavilion consistently drew long lines and the Canadian delicacy was one of the must-have snacks at Epcot. When it closed abruptly in 2004 and with it, the only place in Central Florida to purchase the famed Canadian pastry people we disappointed. Countless petitions, protests, and letters did no good bringing the treat back to Walt Disney World.
Not to spoil the dream here but there multiple reports online about how BeaverTail often attends the IAAPA so this could just be more wishful thinking. One can still dream though.
So could it be true? Could the Beloved Beaver Tail becoming back? Maybe, but seriously how cool would that be?
John Lasseter, the chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, says he’s taking a six month leave of absence amid sexual harassment allegations.
Lasseter announced his sabbatical Tuesday.
That same day, The Hollywood Reporter published allegations that the Pixar co-founder is known for “grabbing, kissing, and making comments about physical attributes.”
In an internal memo sent to Disney employees, Lasseter said “It’s been brought to my attention that I have made some of you feel disrespected or uncomfortable,” he wrote in an email. “That was never my intent. ”
In the statement, Lasseter also acknowledged “painful” conversations and unspecified “missteps,” and apologized to those who may have been “on the receiving end of an unwanted hug or any other gesture they felt crossed the line.”
A spokesperson for Disney wrote: “We appreciate John’s candor and sincere apology and fully support his sabbatical.”
Disney bought Pixar in 2006 in roughly a $7 billion deal that made Lasseter the chief creative officer for the company’s two animation studios.
Lasseter is credited with a resurgence for Disney’s Animation, which has seen recent hits like “Frozen” and “Moana.”
He’s also an executive producer for “Coco,” Pixar’s latest film scheduled to hit theaters on Wednesday.
Albeit briefly and with little fanfare, Disney recently unveiled its first “boy princess.” In an episode of Disney XD’s hit animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil, a young male character named Marco disguises himself as Princess Turdina to infiltrate St. Olga’s Reform School for Wayward Princesses. After Marco empowers his princess pals, the headmistress, Ms. Heinous, clocks his chest hair and tries to expose what she calls his “dark secret.”
See Princess Turdina’s brief reign below.
“That doesn’t prove anything,” says one princess in the crowd. “Princesses can be hairy!”
But Marco removes his dress and wig, admitting, “I lied to you. I am a boy.”
“Why does it matter if he’s a boy?” asks another princess. “Nothing he said was wrong.”
“Yeah, he can think for himself and so can we!”
“He can be a princess if he wants to!”
“Turdina is a state of mind!”
All’s well that ends well, but will audiences ever see Princess Turdina again? Not likely. “Well, looks like Turdina’s gone for good,” Marco says. “That corset was killing me.”
Star vs. the Forces of Evil also aired Disney’s first same-sex kiss earlier this year. The first instance takes place midway through the titular song (video below), when a male couple kisses. The next few feature at least two female couples and occur in a group shot after Marco realizes his best friend has run off.
Chilean singer Jaime Ciero is suing everyone connected to “Let It Go,” alleging that the track copied his Spanish-language track “Volar.” Jaime Ciero claims in a new lawsuit that the smash hit from “Frozen” was inspired by his 2008 song “Volar” and wants royalties from Disney, Idina Menzel and Demi Lovato.
According to TMZ, Ciero said his single was “a huge international success reaching millions of listeners and landing on numerous charts of the most popular, top-performing songs.”
Jaime Ciero claims in a new lawsuit “Let It Go” was obviously inspired by his song, “Volar.” Ciero recorded the song in 2008 and it was played globally. Ciero calls the song “a huge international success reaching millions of listeners and landing on numerous charts of the most popular, top-performing songs.”
This is not the first time “Frozen,” the highest-grossing animated film of all time, has been sued. In 2014, A woman in Kuwait claimed that the story for Disney’s animated mega-hit “Frozen” was lifted from her book. In the end the judge iced here case.
Listen to both (below). Not so sure … even though “Volar” is recorded in Spanish, there are similarities though. Maybe? The question … are there enough to make a case?
Listen, and judge for yourself. Are there enough similarities to make a case?

Saks Fifth Avenue held its massive holiday window unveiling last Monday night. This year, the retailer partnered with Disney to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and transformed all 14 of its Fifth Avenue-facing windows into scenes from the film. The vignettes, which were presented by Mastercard, included Snow White dancing with woodland creatures, the seven dwarfs Heigh-Ho!-ing, and the Wicked Queen concocting her spell with the infamous red apple.
Four designers known for their eveningwear were tapped to bring in a fashion element to the celebration. Alberta Ferretti, Naeem Khan, Monique Lhuillier, and Marchesa created one-of-a-kind fairytale gowns inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Saks president Marc Metrick and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media Chairman Jimmy Pitaro hosted the celebration, which included a 10-story-tall theatrical light show and a performance from Sofia Carson, the recording artist and actress from Disney’s Descendants, which was set to a backdrop of a 40-person choir and performances from Snow White, Snow Prince, and the seven dwarfs. With children in tow, Naomi Watts and Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka swung by to check out the spectacle that was a year in the making.
The window animation and light show will continue throughout the holiday season until January 2, 2018.

Number 6: The Skull on the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride Is Real

Though have since been replaced by fakes, the skull and cross bones seen above are among the few genuine human remains left inside the ride.

You can still see a light in the window that used to be lit in order to announce that Disney himself was on the property. After he passed away, it was lit permanently and is now never extinguished in order to symbolize his constant presence in the world he created.
Number 1: There’s a Secret Suite in Cinderella’s Castle
Cinderella’s castle at Walt Disney World houses a secret suite. At Disneyland, the so-called Dream Suite is located above the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in New Orleans Square.
