‘Spider-Man’ Films Coming to Disney Plus After New Deal with Sony

Disney and Sony Pictures Entertainment agreed to a multi-year licensing deal Tuesday that will bring your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to Disney’s platforms, including Disney+.

The agreement will not only eventually bring the Marvel Studios co-production “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and its follow-up “Far From Home” onto Disney’s streaming platform, but all of Sony’s theatrical releases from 2022-2026 like “Uncharted” with Holland and” Bullet Train” with Brad Pitt; Sony’s library of superhero films like “Venom” and the previous “Spider-Man” iterations that were solely produced by Sony.

Blockbuster films like the “Jumanji” and “Hotel Transylvania” films are also included.

The deal also makes those films available to Hulu, and FX, ABC, and other Disney-owned broadcast networks.

Earlier this month, Sony signed a deal that gave Netflix first crack — what’s known in the industry as a “pay-one window” — for these titles. Typically, that window of streaming exclusivity lasts 18 months.

A subscription to Disney+ costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year, and a bundle consisting of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ costs $13.99 per month.

VIDEO: Johnny Depp Says New Police Bodycam Footage Proves Amber Heard is Lying

New police testimony and bodycam footage ‘proves’ Amber Heard is lying about the fight that ended their 18-month marriage, according to Johnny Depp and his legal team.

Heard and her allies have given evidence in multiple legal cases saying Depp hurled a phone at her face and trashed their penthouse kitchen during the notorious May 2016 blow out.

But the actor’s lawyers claim the depictions of damage – including broken candelabras, glass strewn on the floor and red wine sloshed on the walls and carpets – are completely at odds with what police remember. Take a look at the bodycam footage for yourself below:

Four different LAPD officers visited the stylish, loft-style apartment in downtown Los Angeles within the space of two hours after Heard’s pals mistakenly dialed 911 twice, according to a report from Daily Mail.

The first two cops have given new depositions within the past month reiterating that they swept the $1.5 million property but didn’t see any injuries, vandalism or evidence of a crime.

Their body-worn devices reveal a tidy hallway leading to an elegant kitchen and living area adorned with ornaments, fresh flowers, piles of books, numerous candles and candelabras.

The officers don’t appear to spot anything suspicious, however, and there are no obvious signs of damage, disarray or staining to the floors or carpets in the three and a half minute videos.

Concept Model of Tokyo DisneySea’s New Land Revealed

Disney Resort debuted three videos showing parts of the exciting concept model of Fantasy Springs, a new themed port, which will open at Tokyo DisneySea Park in 2023. This will be the eighth themed port in Tokyo DisneySea, and it’s the largest ever since the opening of the park!

Take a look at these videos of each new area:

The concept model you see in the videos is one-fiftieth of the actual size of the port. The model is painted and shot from different angles to provide more concrete views of Fantasy Springs.

For the past two decades, Tokyo DisneySea has continued to evolve and offer guests even more magical experiences to enjoy. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting new expansion project in Tokyo DisneySea!

  • Baby Mandrill Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Baby Mandrill Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The family at Disney Animal Kingdom just got a little bit bigger. A baby Mandrill was born on Saturday, April 10, to first-time mom Hazel and dad Linus.

Cast members named the infant Ivy to fit in with the rest of her colorful family – Olive, Scarlett, Snow and Hazel.

“We’re so excited to share this news and report that mom and newborn are healthy and bonding. Be on the lookout, because both have already been spotted by guests on Kilimanjaro Safaris,” Disney said in a post. Take a closer look at the cutest new addition to the herd:

You might see the shy baby clinging to Hazel’s stomach, a natural bonding behavior. But this will change soon as the baby begins to walk within weeks of being born, spending most of the time walking underneath mom. The baby joins the troop of seven other mandrills that call Disney’s Animal Kingdom home.

Here are some interesting facts about one of the most colorful mammals found in nature. Mandrills typically have a six-month gestation period. In the mandrill social structure, females take on the majority of parental responsibilities, including grooming, nursing, and carrying the young. When you spot the mandrills, you may see them grooming one another, a behavior that promotes social bonding.

The new arrival weighed in between 1-2 pounds, mandrills are actually the largest species of monkey. They’re also a vulnerable species found in African rainforests along the equator where their habitat is disappearing because of deforestation and poaching.

  • First Look: New Lighting Fixtures Being Added to Spaceship Earth Epcot

First Look: New Lighting Fixtures Being Added to Spaceship Earth Epcot

A few weeks ago Disney shared the exciting plans for new Spaceship Earth lighting debuting during the 50th anniversary celebration Walt Disney World. Now we have a first look at one of the new light fixtures being added to the iconic attraction at Epcot.

As part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” Spaceship Earth will transform into magnificent Beacons of Magic at night, coming to life with an EARidescent glow.

The attraction will have new lights that will shine across the reflective panels, connecting to one another and resembling stars in a nighttime sky. Take a look at the installation below:

“Our team at Imagineering has been hard at work innovating the design and technology for this poetic and inspirational lighting concept,” Imagineer Zach Riddley said in an online post. “We’ve had to get quite ingenious in how we go about installing these new fixtures and all the high-tech systems so that they seamlessly integrate with the iconic profile of Spaceship Earth.”

Riddley said after this test crews will begin installing the new lighting package from the top of the 180-foot sphere and working their way down.

The permanent new lighting will debut Oct. 1, and continue beyond “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” as a defining feature of the park.

  • Disney Teases Realistic, Retractable Lightsaber During Parks Presentation

Disney Teases Realistic, Retractable Lightsaber During Parks Presentation

Thursday, Disney held a virtual news conference where they revealed a Realistic, Retractable Lightsaber that may be coming soon to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and more.

Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro hosted the presentation and touched on topics such as the reopening of Disneyland Resort in California, upcoming Disney World attractions, and how new technology will shape guest experiences.

Then, as D’Amaro gave the closing remarks, he lifted up a lightsaber, turned it on and said “it’s real” before the video ended. The way the light activated from the hilt was similar to how lightsabers activate in the Star Wars films.

“You never know what we’re going to come up with next,” D’Amaro said.

In a blog post released after the presentation, D’Amaro briefly mentioned the Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development team and the work they are doing.

“I can’t wait to share more with you in the near future — this team is really pushing the boundaries of creativity, technology, and storytelling,” D’Amaro wrote.

Disney has filed patents in the past for lightsaber-related technology. And visitors to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can build their own lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop. Those lightsabers feature a heavier hilt made out of metal.

So far, no other details have been announced. And the video hasn’t been released.
