  • Real Squirrel Climbs on Princess Merida While Meeting Guest

Real Squirrel Climbs on Princess Merida While Meeting Guest

A squirrel managed to make its way into Fairytale Garden and climb on to Princess Merida’s dress while guests where in line the for the character experience at Disney’s Magic Kingdom on Thursday.

The squirrels at Disney World are known to be pretty ‘brave’ and one actually decided to make a cameo appearance at Merida’s Meet and Greet.  One little guest got to see up close and personal how Disney Princesses truly do have natures touch when it comes to their woodland friends. Take a look at the cute video below:

A guest who was visiting the park snapped a quick video of the moment and posted it on social media and it has received a lot of attention among the Disney fan community.

The guests were giggling and really enjoyed the little bonus interaction and in true form Merida handled it like a highland warrior. She was calm and composed and didn’t break character at all, which would be a difficult feat for anyone, but it still just lends further proof to the argument that Disney Princesses can indeed talk to animals.

Since her debut in Disney’s Steamboat Willie 90 years ago, Minnie Mouse has become come one of the most recognizable characters next to her main mouse Mickey! Mickey got his star on the Walk of Fame back in 1978 in celebration of his 50th anniversary.

It only took her 40 more years than Mickey to reach the milestone, but it’s official now and we love her just as much.

The ceremony took place at 11:30 a.m. where Minnie was dressed in her signature red and white polka dot dress to and a cute floppy to celebrate the event. Now the 2,627th star along the famous walkway, it’s located just outside the El Capitan Theatre on a section of Hollywood Boulevard.

Bob Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, and “American Idol” judge Katy Perry were on-hand for the festivities and gave brief remarks about Minnie Mouse before her star was unveiled.

“In true Hollywood fashion, she delivered a truly memorable performance but Mickey got all the credit,” Iger said during Monday’s ceremony. And while she’s famous for “playing the damsel in distress,” Iger continued, “the truth is Minnie can hold her own in any situation.”

Perry took the stage next to Minnie and told the story of her first memories of the Disney character.

She described memories of “pastel walls” and “the smell of baby powder” in the air.  Perry said, she first noticed the Disney character on her baby diapers and that led to her “lifelong devotion” to Minnie.

“The definition of icon may fluctuate through the ages, but there are some undeniably special characters who are iconic, and I can’t think of anyone who embodies that more than my dear friend, Minerva Mouse,” Perry said.

Minnie and Mickey aren’t the only other beloved Disney Characters with stars on the walk of fame.  Minnie joins Snow White, Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh, Tinker Bell and Kermit the Frog, all of whom already have a star.

In addition to her films, Minnie Mouse has also entertained millions of guests at Disney Parks around the world since the first Disney theme park – Disneyland park – opened its gates in 1955. Minnie was able to celebrate her milestone achievement earlier this week with park guests at a special “Rock the Dots”-themed send-off at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. • RUMOR: Talking Mickey Maybe Leaving Magic Kingdom Soon

RUMOR: Talking Mickey Maybe Leaving Magic Kingdom Soon

The Talking Mickey Mouse Meet and Greet at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World may be getting the silent treatment if rumors are true.  Talking Mickey may be removed from the attraction according to cast members who are familiar with the issue.

According to a report from wdwinfo, the Main Street U.S.A. attraction closing as early as this May, stating, ‘this is a cost saving move’.  After an overhaul of the attraction, it is expected that Mickey will return, but without the ability to talk. The attraction has suffered from technical difficulties in the past and it’s unclear if that may have anything to do with the possible decision. The report also indicated that some guests have been confused as to why Mickey Mouse can talk in one location, but not in others.

As always, you have to take internet rumors with a grain of salt.  This one seems strange since Disney was just testing out a talking Donald and a talking Minnie to go along with the talking Mickey in Disney’s California Adventure in September. The attraction has been well received by guests and the technology has a long history that doesn’t likely end here regardless of what ends up happening with this particular attraction.

If you’ve never seen Talking Mickey you can check him out in the video below.

I for one hope the rumors are not true.  We love getting to personally interact with Mickey. So if you haven’t had a chance to talk to the main mouse personally, make sure you get there while there is still time.

It may have taken forty more years than Mickey, but your favorite leading ladies name is finally spelled out in gold in front of the El Capitan Theatre.

Disney Super Fan Perry tweeted her excitement about the ceremony, calling it a “childhood and grown adult dream come true.”
