  • Disney Closing Down Disney Channel Stations Around the World Due to Disney Plus Success

Disney Closing Down Disney Channel Stations Around the World Due to Disney Plus Success

Disney’s streaming service Disney Plus launched in November giving fans a new outlet for their favorite Disney content, but it also left many wondering what the future of the long-running Disney Channel and its subsidiaries, Disney Junior and DisneyXD would be.

With Disney+ rolling out around the globe, it’s having an impact on the delivery of Disney content and in some countries a number of Disney Channels have closed down.

According to What’s on Disney Plus, over the past few days several Disney Channels have had to close down due to the success of Disney+:

    • Disney Channel (Italy)
    • Disney Junior (Italy)
    • Disney Channel (Australia)
    • Disney Junior (Australia)
    • Disney XD (Germany)
    • Disney XD (France)
    • Disney XD (Spain)
    • Disney XD+ (UK)

Disney has been closing down multiple Disney themed channels in different countries, including New Zealand, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Australia and the UK.   Content was also slowly being removed from many video on demand platforms such as Sky and Foxtel, ahead of the Disney+ launch.

This is one of the big reasons why Disney+ is being offered through set top boxes like Sky Q, to allow traditional satellite and cable viewers to continue to get access to Disney content.

Children’s TV has been suffering from a massive shift as viewers embracing video on demand, with viewing figures dropping drastically, year on year.  Which is why Disney+ has become so important to the Walt Disney Company.

As Disney+ continues to pull in more subscribers, its likely more Disney Channels are likely to close.

  • ‘The Mandalorian’ Docuseries Set For Star Wars Day Premiere On Disney+

‘The Mandalorian’ Docuseries Set For Star Wars Day Premiere On Disney+

To help celebrate Star Wars Day, Disney+ is set to receive an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look in a new eight-part documentary series exclusive to the streaming platform.

The first of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian’s eight episodes will premiere on Disney+ on May 4 — or May the Fourth, to Star Wars fans — with new episodes every Friday.

That the eight episodes of this docuseries perfectly corresponds to the episode count of season one of The Mandalorian might lead you to believe that each episode of Gallery would focus on a different “chapter” of the show. Alas, the announcement says each “explores a different facet” of the series’ creation through never-before-seen footage and interviews hosted by Jon Favreau.

Some such facets include “the filmmaking process, the legacy of George Lucas’ Star Wars, how the cast brought the characters to life, the series’ groundbreaking technology, the artistry behind the show’s practical models, effects, and creatures, plus the creative influences, the iconic score, and connections to Star Wars characters and props from across the galaxy.”

PHOTO: Disney+ Worker Fired for Using Foul Language with Customer Online

A Disney+ customer services employee has been fired after telling a British user to ‘suck my d***’ and ‘eat s***, w****’ on the company’s live chat function.

Subscriber Reece Scott, 23, from Woking, Surrey, had contacted the Disney help desk online after receiving an error message when trying to watch Brother Bear.

But he was horrified to receive foul-mouthed reply, and quickly ended the chat, before taking a screenshot and complaining to the new streaming service. Take a look at the exchange below:

Disney+ confirmed its employee had been dismissed and said a full investigation is underway to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

The exchange will raise fears among parents that any children using the help feature may also receive insulting responses.

  • ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Prequel Series With Josh Gad, Luke Evans in the works at Disney+

‘Beauty and the Beast’ Prequel Series With Josh Gad, Luke Evans in the works at Disney+

No one’s got a swell cleft in his chin like Gaston and no one gets a new tv series like Gaston either. That’s right! A new Beauty & The Beast prequel series to the 2017 Disney live-action feature film, with stars Josh Gad and Luke Evans set to reprise their roles, could be coming to Disney+.

Streaming service Disney+ is teaming with Once Upon a Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz as well as stars Josh Gad and Luke Evans for a Beauty and the Beast prequel limited series to the 2017 feature film in which the latter pair starred.

The untitled limited series will be a six-episode musical event, with composer Alan Menken in talks to return as well. Sources say the project, which is currently in the early development stage, will take place well before the events of the film and also expand the Beauty and the Beast universe. No other stars from the film — like Emma Watson and Dan Stevens — are currently attached, though sources say there is a possibility that they could pop in for a guest spot.

The 2017 Beauty and the Beast film, directed by Bill Condon, grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Kevin Kline also starred.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.

Marvel Studios Begins Filming ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” a new series coming exclusively to Disney+ has finally begun filming!

Earlier this year at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios announced the exciting news that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan would be reprising their roles as Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier in and on Tuesday, the two stars took over Marvel Studios’ Instagram to announce that production is officially under way!

It’s no new news that these two have incredible and hilarious chemistry both on and off the screen, and this short teaser takeover was the perfect reminder of that. The Instagram takeover kicked off with Mackie doing a solo takeover explaining he has big news to share, but was quickly interrupted by Stan jumping in on his takeover to make the news public. Ultimately, we got to the big announcement — that production has started on their much-anticipated new series.

The series is expected to release in late 2020! Other upcoming Marvel Studios projects include Black Widow on May 1, 2020, The Eternals on November 6, 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on February 12, 2021, WandaVision in spring 2021, Loki in spring 2021, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021, What If? In summer 2021, Hawkeye in fall 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder on November 5, 2021, 2021, and Black Panther 2 on May 6, 2022. Marvel Studios Disney+ series without release dates include Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
