  • Disney’s Live-Action Chip ‘N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers Begins Filming

Disney’s Live-Action Chip ‘N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers Begins Filming

Filming for Disney’s highly-anticipated Chip ’n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers is underway.

Combining live-action and animation, the film revives the premise of a pair of chipmunk detectives from the beloved 1989-1990 Disney Channel series.

In a post to The Lonely Island’s Instagram feed Tuesday, director Akiva Schaffer revealed a photo of a clapperboard with the film’s title and, intriguingly, “Take 5” written on it as you can see below:

Disney revealed a few details about the project in their Investor Day presentation back in December. Disney unveiled some key plot elements, as well as hinting that some animated characters may use traditional animation, while others will be CGI. They also confirmed that Seth Rogen will make a cameo appearance, though further details are unknown.

Joining Schaffer is fellow Lonely Island alum Andy Samberg as the voice of Dale, the laid-back, free-spirited co-founder of the titular Rescue Rangers. John Mulaney will voice Chip, Dale’s Hawaiian shirt-wearing counterpart. Think The Odd Couple, but with chipmunks. Samberg and Mulaney previously worked together on Saturday Night Live, as Mulaney used to be a writer on the sketch comedy show during Samberg’s tenure.

Developed by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove, the animated Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers TV series premiered on the Disney Channel in 1989 and ran for three seasons. The show follows the iconic Disney chipmunks Chip and Dale as they form the Rescue Rangers detective agency, solving crimes with the assistance of an adventurous, cheese-loving Australian mouse named Monterey Jack, a brilliant inventor mouse named Gadget Hackwrench and Monterey’s faithful housefly sidekick Zipper. Rescue Rangers later became part of the famous 1990s Disney animation lineup known as the Disney Afternoon, along with Darkwing Duck, Talespin and the original DuckTales.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers will be a Disney+ exclusive in the spring of 2022. Check out the on-set photo below.

A brand new Orange Bird sipper has flown into the Taste of Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival!

The new sipper can be found at ‘The Citrus Blossom’ Outdoor Kitchen, which is located in Showcase Plaza. It’s decorated with an orange slice, orange blossoms, and larger arms.

It also comes with an Orange-Lemon Smoothie (nonalcoholic). This smoothie is different from the Festival of the Arts, which tasted like a Creamsicle. The Orange-Lemon was more orange flavor and tasted almost like Tang! I loved it. Take a closer look below:

  • Disney Closing at Least 20% of Disney Stores Shifting Focus to e-commerce

Disney Closing at Least 20% of Disney Stores Shifting Focus to e-commerce

Disney will close 20% of its brick-and-mortar Disney Store locations before the end of the year as part of a bigger focus on its e-commerce business, the company said Wednesday.

At least 60 of its North American locations will close, the company said, citing changing consumer behaviors and a desire to link its online shopping experience to its Disney Parks apps and social media platforms. There are about 300 Disney Stores worldwide.

Consumers have been moving to digital shopping over physical locations, and chains including Walmart Inc and Macy’s Inc have shuttered brick-and-mortar stores. The global coronavirus pandemic accelerated that change when people were forced to stay home.

This move is meant to capitalize on consumers’ embrace of online shopping and address what shoppers “expect from a retailer,” said Stephanie Young, president, consumer products games and publishing, in a statement.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world,” Young said. “We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected e-commerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises.”

This won’t affect more than 600 Disney Parks stores and other locations, including Disney stores inside Target stores.

  • Robert Downey Jr. Says ‘Never Say Never’ About Iron Man Return

Robert Downey Jr. Says ‘Never Say Never’ About Iron Man Return

Avenger’s star Robert Downey Jr is open to suiting up for a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark\Iron Man.

Downey concluded an 11-year tenure as the armored Avenger in 2019’s box office-breaking Avengers: Endgame, where Stark sacrifices himself to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) and save the ever-expanding Marvel universe. After confirming in a December interview that he was moving on from Marvel, saying he’s “done all [he] could” with the franchise’s flagship character after a “creatively satisfying” reign launched with 2008’s Iron Man, Downey is leaving the door open to step back into the MCU.

During a recent interview with GQ, Downey, who has was asked how Holland’s new film, Cherry, might affect his career. To which, he said, “Look, Tom won’t be playing Spider-Man when he’s 37. At least I hope not. And when you’re in the MCU, there’s a feeling of all life beginning with it and ending it. But there’s life outside too. I can confirm this. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. It’s funny, I bumped into Keanu [Reeves] the other day, somewhere in Malibu, I think, and he told me he’d just been filming The Matrix again; he’d stepped back into that world that he once occupied. I asked him what it felt like: ‘Like being in Australia.’

What I am saying is there was a Spider-Man before Tom Holland and there will be a Spider-Man after Tom Holland. That’s facts, Tommo. Sorry.”

On being asked the much-awaited question about his return to the MCU, he said, “Well, I have alighted, for now. Real-world to save. But never say never.”

Last year, the Iron Man star did admit he would return to the MCU on one condition.

Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience, the comedian host asked the actor: “Is the door to Iron Man totally closed because I don’t believe it is? You guys can go through time now. You’ve already opened up that door.”

Downey Jr said: “There would have to be a super compelling argument and a series of events that made it obvious… We all have to do what [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin Feige says.”

First Trailer for New Mighty Ducks Series Coming to Disney Plus Released

Disney has released the first official trailer for “The Mighty Ducks” reboot series coming to Disney Plus.

Emilio Estevez will be reprising his role as Coach Gordon Bombay in the new series dubbed “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.”

Disney released the trailer for “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” Thursday, showing Estevez’s character called on to help a mother and her son start a new hockey team. Take a look at the trailer below:

It’s been 25 years since the last iteration of the fictional hockey team. Minnesotans have a special place in their heart for the classic movies that were filmed right in the heart of the Twin Cities, and featured local spots like Mickey’s Diner in St. Paul and Band Box Diner in Minneapolis.

The 10-episode season takes place in 2021 Minnesota and follows 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon), who, after being dropped from the team, works with his mother Alex (Lauren Graham), to form their own squad.

Estevez is an executive producer on the series and Graham is co-executive producer. The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers premieres on Disney+ on Friday, March 26.
