‘Mickey’s PhilharMagic’ New ‘Coco’ Scene Coming Soon to Disney World Resort for 50th Anniversary Celebration

Disney World is adding a new “Coco” scene in “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” in Magic Kingdom at Disney World later this year during the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebration.

One of the original composers of “Coco” – Germaine Franco – produced a score unique to “Mickey’s PhilharMagic,” bringing the musical number “Un Poco Loco,” from Disney and Pixar’s “Coco” to the fan favorite attraction.

The 3D, animated scene extends Donald Duck’s musical journey, bringing the fantasy adventure to new heights alongside all the attraction’s fan-favorite musical numbers. Take a closer look below:

In addition to Germaine Franco, Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated with Pixar and Disney Animation Studios to add the scene to the attraction’s other classic musical sequences. Learn more about the collaboration in this video!

  • Disneyland Paris Shuts Down Again as France Enters Second Lockdown

Disneyland Paris Shuts Down Again as France Enters Second Lockdown

Disneyland Paris is temporarily closing again as France enters a second nationwide lockdown to curb a surge in coronavirus infections.

In Europe, health experts have seen a surge in new COVID-19 cases, prompting elected officials to take immediate action. The closure is “in line with the latest direction from the French authorities,” Disneyland Paris said in a statement.

The park will be closing its gates at the end of the day Thursday and it will remain closed until the restrictions are lifted as you can see in the post below:

It hopes to open for the holiday season and will be taking reservations from December 19 through January 3 “based on prevailing conditions and government guidance at that time,” it added. The theme park will be shut from January 4 through February 12.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron announced a new nationwide lockdown on Wednesday that he said will last until December 1 “at minimum.” Non-essential businesses, restaurants and bars will be closed starting Monday as the country battles a surge in coronavirus cases that hospitals warn could cause capacity issues.

The shutdown will come as a fresh blow to Disney’s Parks, Experiences and Products business, which suffered a $6.2 billion decline in revenue in the first half of the calendar year, compared to the same period in 2019. All 12 of its parks in North America, Asia and Europe were closed between March and May.

While Disney has since reopened theme parks in Shanghai and Florida, Disneyland remains closed in California. The company said last month that it is laying off 28,000 people, or more than a quarter of workers in its parks and resorts business.

Earlier this month, Disney unveiled a major reorganization of its media and entertainment business, highlighting the company’s focus on growing its streaming service Disney+.

Disneyland Paris Begins Phased Reopening Today

Today, Disneyland Paris has reopened their doors after being forced to close for four months amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The phased reopening of Disneyland Paris begins with Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney Village and Disney’s Newport Bay Club Hotel, and includes enhanced health and safety measures in line with guidance from the French government and health authorities.

Some experiences have been reimagined, some provide a new way for guests to be part of the magic, and some will be temporarily unavailable and return at a later date, but the timeless magic and unique storytelling for which the resort is known will remain.

The reopening of Disneyland Paris is also a chance to continue the resort’s ongoing commitment to support the local communities. Together with Disney VoluntEARS, in August the resort will welcome 300 children from the Île-de-France region and their families to experience a day at Disneyland Park during their summer holidays. Additionally, the resort made several donations to the local community over the past few months, including food and medical-related supplies and the planting of thousands of flowers to recognize and honor local hospital staff.

Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland have reopened their gates and Disney World and Disneyland have announced their plans to reopen next month – and now Disneyland Paris had also announced a reopening date.

The iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle of Disneyland Paris will once again welcome guests to its towering spires and sprawling vistas when the resort begins its phased reopening on July 15.

Since its temporary closure in March of this year, guests of all ages have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of our premiere European destination. Come July 15, Disneyland Paris will begin a phased reopening with visitors able to return to Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney’s Newport Bay Club hotel, and Disney Village.

Disney continues to prioritize the health and safety of cast members and guests. In line with French government and health authorities’ recommendations, the phased reopening of Disneyland Paris will present a deliberate approach with enhanced health and safety measures tailored to our specific environment. This will include limits on attendance and require advanced ticketing and reservations to accommodate controlled guest density that aligns with government guidance on physical distancing.

Over the next few weeks, they will be taking steps to prepare Disneyland Paris for a successful reopening, from visible changes to accommodate physical distancing, to new training for all of their cast members.

“As President of Disneyland Paris, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside our team of dedicated cast members who have demonstrated tremendous commitment to preserving the magic for our guests and fans during our unprecedented closure,” said Disneyland Paris President Natacha Rafalski. “The last several months have tested us and our community – both personally and professionally – but together we have persevered with optimism and determination. We are grateful for the resilience of our cast members and local community, the enthusiasm of our guests and fans, and the positive momentum of the many reopenings in the tourism industry throughout Europe. We’ve been so touched by our guests around the world who’ve found creative ways to maintain their connection to Disneyland Paris from home.”

With a phased approach, some experiences will change and others will return at a later date, but the magic that Disney’s cast is world renowned for will remain. More information on the enhanced health and safety measures are available on www.disneylandparis.com
