First Look: Guide Map for Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure

Avengers Campus is set to open June 4, 2021 at the Disneyland Resort and they are now giving us a first look at the guide map for the new land.

The entirely new land is dedicated to discovering, recruiting and training the next generation of Super Heroes.

As you can see, there are three entrances into the new 6-acre land where you can join the action with the Avengers and their allies, like Iron Man, Black Panther, Black Widow and more; sling webs on the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature Spider-Man; taste-test inventive food and drinks and become part of a bigger universe.

At this fully immersive land inside Disney California Adventure park, you will be invited to team up with the Avengers and their allies and live out your Super Hero dreams. Avengers Campus is comprised of several heroic locations, each hosted by a different Avenger to share their unique powers, technology and knowledge with recruits.

Kids and guests of all ages will find their powers as they train alongside some favorite Super Heroes, with a chance to live out their own heroic story.

You can now also plot out your Avengers Campus visit on your mobile phone or desktop! Check out the map on Disneyland.com and the official Disneyland mobile app.

  • Disneyland to Introduce $100 Sandwich

    Disneyland to Introduce $100 Sandwich

The Disneyland Resort will soon be home to one of the most expensive sandwiches in the world and the super-sized sandwich has a price of nearly $100.

The Quantum-sized Pym-ini Sandwich will be served at the Pym Test Kitchen located in the upcoming Avengers Campus.

The sandwich is so large, it serves 6-to-8 people — so, roughly $12-$16 per person. It comes with salami, rosemary ham, provolone and sun-dried tomato spread on toasted focaccia, served with marinara dipping sauce and arugula salad.

The Marvel land’s Pym Test Kitchen is themed to the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp and will serve meals that have been shrunk or expanded in size.

The sandwich will also be available in a single serving for $14.99.

Other themed entrees and snacks at the Pym Test Kitchen include a Caesar salad with a “colossal crouton,” as well as a Not So Little Chicken Sandwich, which comes with a huge fried chicken breast on (what is presumably) a normal-sized bun.

  • Disneyland Can Return to Full Capacity After California Ends Restrictions June 15

Disneyland Can Return to Full Capacity After California Ends Restrictions June 15

Disneyland has announced that temperature screenings beginning June 15, after California announced they will be Removing Capacity and Physical Distancing Requirements.

The first and biggest change is the removal of all capacity limits and physical distancing requirements, regardless of setting. That means bars, restaurants, concert venues, grocery stores and everything in between can open at full capacity — if they so choose.

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test won’t be necessary to do practically anything. However, the state is planning to keep some recommendations — and one requirement — on “mega events” in place:

    • At outdoor live events with more than 10,000 people, California will recommend venues have a verification of vaccination/negative test in place. Those who aren’t vaccinated or who don’t show a negative test result can still enter if they wear a mask. This is a recommendation from the state, not a requirement.
    • Indoor venues with 5,000 or more people should implement a similar verification. However, at these indoor events, non-vaccinated people who don’t show a negative COVID-19 test result shouldn’t enter, the state says. This is a requirement, not a recommendation.

When it comes to masking, California is planning to fully align with CDC guidance come June 15.

All of California’s restrictions on travel outside the state will be lifted. Any travel restrictions down the line will be in alignment with the CDC, Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said on a call with reporters Friday.

California is also not considering creating a vaccine passport at this time, Ghaly said.

  • Disneyland’s new Snow White ride criticized for including Prince Charming’s ‘non-consensual’ kiss

Disneyland’s new Snow White ride criticized for including Prince Charming’s ‘non-consensual’ kiss

Disneyland just reopened after being closed for more than a year and they are already receiving backlash for the new ending added to the park’s reimagined Snow White ride.

The ride, now known as Snow White’s Enchanted Wish, has garnered a lot of praise for its upgrades which include new audio, new animation, new music, and stunning visual technology that includes laser projections and LED lights.

But there’s one part of the ride that hasn’t been as well-received: the grand finale of the movie, where Prince Charming kisses a sleeping Snow White to wake her up with “true love’s kiss.”

In a review of the new ride for SFGate.com, the outlet’s managing editor Katie Dowd, and contributor Julie Tremaine, wrote that the kiss should be removed like other “problematic scenes from rides like Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain’.

“Haven’t we already agreed that consent in early Disney movies is a major issue? That teaching kids that kissing, when it hasn’t been established if both parties are willing to engage, is not OK?” they wrote.

Disney announced earlier this year that it would redesign The Jungle Cruise to replace the “Trader Sam” character, a salesman of shrunken heads. Splash Mountain, meanwhile, was being overhauled to remove stereotypes.

Snow White’s Scary Adventures has been reimagined into Snow White’s Enchanted Wish.

The classic attraction has been reimagined with new music, LED black lighting and a new animation system, officials said. It also has about 50 new figures.

A team of Imagineers have spent the last year to making the attraction decidedly less scary as the creative arm of Disney reimagined the backstory for the classic Fantasyland dark ride and added new scenes. Take a closer look below:

“It’s a lot brighter,” city spokesman Mike Lyster said. “The ride before was a little dark. But it’s noticeably brighter and newer.”

Now this new ride is in full sparkle as Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure reopen to the public following a year-plus closure. “Snow White’s Enchanted Wish” officially debuted on April 30, the reopening date for The Happiest Place on Earth.”

  • Disneyland Resort Reopens After Year Long Closure

Disneyland Resort Reopens After Year Long Closure

After more than a year, the Disneyland Resort is welcoming back theme park guests.

Favorite sights and familiar sounds have returned, from the smiling face of Mickey Mouse on the Pixar Pal-A-Round to the welcoming whistle of the Disneyland Railroad.

Beloved characters from favorite Disney stories are here to entertain and delight in new ways and sometimes in unexpected places. And those much-missed treats – DOLE Whip, Corn Dogs, not to mention churros – are also back to satisfy cravings. Take a look at the Disney Parks video that marks the occasion below:

Health guidelines will require guests to go through a temperature screening before entering the park and to wear face masks. They’ll also need to remain 6 feet apart from other groups. People who visit together will be limited to no more than three households. Other measures to reduce the chance of viral transmission include cashless transactions and enhanced cleaning practices, the Walt Disney Co. said.

Only California residents will be allowed to visit, and daily crowd sizes will be limited due to safety protocols.

Disneyland Lights Up Sleeping Beauty Castle Ahead of Reopening After Year-Long Shutdown

Disneyland is preparing to reopen for the first time in a year and to mark the occasion, Disneyland lit up Sleeping Beauty’s castle as a symbol of hope and a show of gratitude to fans.

In addition to the emotion-evoking illumination, there were a few notable appearances: Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, and Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort “… shared messages of optimism and gratitude to the cast members of the Disneyland Resort.”

Also, Justin Rapp and Rafa Barron, took part in a livestream of the relighting as you can see below:

“As cast members, we know the enormous effort it has taken to get back to this point and why returning to this happy place is so special for all of us,” Barron said, as Rapp called the feat “uplifting.”

“Tonight, taking in the majesty of Sleeping Beauty Castle, we recognize its significance of the symbols of the hopes and dreams of so many,” Rapp added.

The park reopens Friday, April 30 to guests who already have tickets and reservations, with plenty of COVID-19 protocols in place to keep everyone safe.

  • Disneyland Unveils Theme Park Expansion Plans

Disneyland Unveils Theme Park Expansion Plans

In a press briefing given on Thursday, Disneyland has revealed its plans for a major expansion of its theme parks.

The DisneylandForward project updates the blueprint of the resort area and reimagines the area, growing the Disneyland resort and adding a mix of hotels, retail, dining and entertainment to the eastern and western edges of the property.

On the west side of the resort, near Downtown Disney and the Lilo and Stitch parking lots, there are plans for a possible third theme park that would weave around the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel.

During a media briefing, officials noted that this would be more an expansion of the current theme parks rather than a “third gate.”

The east side expansion included theme park experiences, hotels, retail, dining and entertainment in what is currently the Toy Story parking lot next to the Anaheim Convention Center. The plans also call for new parking on Disney Way.

“What we do know today is that guests need and want more,” said Walt Disney Imagineering Jeanette Lomboy. “In order to give guests what they want, we need more flexibility here in Anaheim. Guests are demanding immersive integrated experiences that are not singular in their uses. We no longer think of uses as separate. Retail, dining, entertainment, theme parks and hotels are all part of the same experiences in the same place. And we need the space in our lands to create story-rich environments.”

Disneyland is hoping for flexibility from the city of Anaheim. The project would need to be approved by city leaders and a back-and-forth planning phase is expected to last two years before any decisions are made.
