10 large Mickey Mouse-shaped beignets or 2 dozen small beignets

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 teaspoon dry yeast
    • 1/4 cup warm water (105°)
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream

    1. Sprinkle yeast over warm water in a small bowl, stirring to dissolve. Let stand for 5 minutes.
    2. Combine sugar, shortening, salt, heavy cream, egg, flour and boiling water in a large bowl; stir in yeast mixture. With the dough hook attachment of an electric mixer on medium speed, mix the dough just until combined and smooth. Let dough rest for 30 minutes.
    3. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and cut individual beignets with a Mickey Mouse-shaped cutter or cut into 2 1/2 to 3-inch squares. Cover with a towel and let dough rise until doubled in size in a warm, draft-free area, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
    4. Using caution, heat 3 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F in a deep, heavy pot over medium-high heat. Fry beignets until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes, turning as soon as they brown on one side. Remove with tongs and place on paper towels to drain.  Dust warm beignets with powdered sugar and serve immediately.

  • Disney & Edy’s Release Ice Cream Flavors Inspired By Pixar Movies

Disney & Edy’s Release Ice Cream Flavors Inspired By Pixar Movies

Edy’s is partnering up with Disney’s Pixar to release four new ice cream flavors that celebrate Pixar’s classic animated hits “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles” and “Monsters, Inc.”

The limited-edition flavors can be found at participating stores (such as Publix and Meijer) now, but they won’t be around forever, so don’t miss your chance to enjoy these yummy additions to the Edy’s family.

First, there is Coral Reef Orange and Cream, which pays homage to “Finding Nemo.” The light orange and vanilla sherbet include the sweet addition of little chocolate fishes.

Then, there’s Cookies and Scream, a yummy cookies n’ cream combo that is a nod to “Monsters, Inc.” It’s made with light vanilla ice cream, chocolate cookie pieces, a fudge swirl and little Mike and Sully chocolate pieces.

And then there’s Jack-Jack Cookie Crumble, which is a combo of light chocolate and vanilla ice cream mixed with chocolate cookie pieces and little chocolate masks (to mimic the superhero masks worn by the characters in “The Incredibles”).

Last but not least is Edy’s new Chocolate Peanut Butter Toy Chest. Made with light chocolate ice cream and a peanut butter swirl, the dessert is made even more decadent thanks to chocolate “Toy Story” pieces that are filled with peanut butter.

New Disney Dining Plan Option Coming Soon to Disney World

A Disney Dining Plan is a convenient way to have the expense of your meals already paid for when you go on vacation. Now, you’ll have a new option to choose from when Disney Dining Plus is released February 27th!

You still have the same three options as before, but there will now be a fourth option called the “Plus” plan that should really add some flexibility to your planning.

    Current Dining Plan options:

    • Quick-Service Dining Plan:
      • 2 quick service credits and 2 snack credits per night

The PLUS part comes in with the meal credits!
You will get: 2 dining credits per night that can be used in any combination of either Table Service, Quick Service, or Character Dining.

  • Strawberry Hibiscus Mimosa is All the Buzz at Disney World

Strawberry Hibiscus Mimosa is All the Buzz at Disney World

If you like a good mimosa with breakfast then you’ll love the Strawberry Hibiscus Mimosa available at Ale & Compass Restaurant located in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort at Disney World.

On the menu its known as Agua Fresca Libation and it’s made with Paul Cheneau Cava with Agua Fresca Strawberry and Hibiscus and costs $12.

This hidden gem has been on the menu since Ale & Compass Restaurant opened in 2017 and it goes great with the amazing breakfast buffet offered at the restaurant. Take a look below for a break down of the ingredients and a close look at the buffet:

Agua Fresca: A sweet and refreshing fruit drink made with only 4 ingredients. A refreshing blend of strawberries, water, sugar, and lime juice is a great light alternative to the traditional orange juice made mimosa.

Paul Cheneau Cava: The sparkling Cava actually comes from Spain, however, the name fits, as it is surprisingly champagne-like. A fine pale yellow in color, with golden highlights, it offers complex yellow and spice fruit, along with pinpoint bubbles and subtle biscuity notes. For the money, Paul Cheneau can’t be beat.

The New England-inspired eatery boasts a seafood-focused menu however, guests can find a number of additional non-seafood options as you can see below:

At Ale & Compass Restaurant you can drop anchor for Eastern Seaboard eats that the whole crew will love and start the day with hearty breakfast dishes—including omelets, dark chocolate waffle, salted caramel-apple French toast or a protein bowl. Or, enjoy lighter fare, like fruit smoothies.
