Watch The Latest Trailer For Solo: A Star Wars Story Just Released

The official trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story made their debut today, and they have us wishing we could just make the jump to May 25 already. Take a look below at the new movie poster just released today as well.

The trailer clocks in at over two minutes and shows us more of the movie than ever before, including great Han-and-Chewie moments, a super-cool Lando and the equally super-cool droid L3-37, and some kinetic Falcon action.

“I’ve got a really good feeling about this,” Han says while flying. The exact opposite of the famous line uttered by Solo in Star Wars: A New Hope in an obvious nod to the famous movie quote. Take a look at the trailer below:

More details on the plot are clear now. Obias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) recruits Han for a mission to rip off an notorious gangster (Paul Bettany) and Lando, Chewie, the mysterious Val (Thandie Newton) and Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke), possibly an old flame, are all along for the ride.

“You might want to buckle up, baby,” says Donald Glover who plays the notorious smuggler Lando Calrissian.

The newest poster was released today as well.  It’s got a definite retro vibe with an earth-toned, Western-movie-style image, featuring beautifully-painted takes on the main characters and a world from the film.

  • ‘Black Panther’ Sails Past ‘Titanic’ To Third Highest Grossing U.S. Film All Time

‘Black Panther’ Sails Past ‘Titanic’ To Third Highest Grossing U.S. Film All Time

Marvel’s “Black Panther” is still clawing its way into the record books. This weekend the film passed director James Cameron’s “Titanic” becoming the third highest-grossing U.S. film of all time.

“Titanic” was once king at the box office and it sat as the number one highest grossing domestic film of all time for nearly a decade. The film held onto the spot until it was surpassed by Cameron’s next blockbuster film “Avatar” ($760.5m) and both were eventually passed by Disney’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($936.6m), which still currently holds the number one spot in the U.S. Well there is a new cat in town and the king of Wakanda just sank “Titanic”.

On Saturday, The Ryan Coogler-directed film starring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan and Danai Gurira finished with a domestic total of $665.3 million which easily passed “Titanic” which sits at $659.5 million. After Sundays numbers post it will have a strong hold on third place. These numbers are lifetime totals as the film had already had taken the third spot domestically by Friday if you consider initial release gross earnings.

Marvel’s ground breaking film — which has been hailed not only for Coogler’s exceptional world building and layered story but also for its virtually all-black cast of superstars — overtook Marvel’s Avengers to become the biggest-selling superhero film of all time.

“Black Panther” had enough steam to pass “Titanic”, but likely won’t be able to pass “Avatar”. This is still a huge feat for the superhero flick though as “Titanic” was ranked in the top three for two decades.

The only thing that stands a chance at dethroning “Black Panther” from the third spot in the near future is the upcoming release of “Avengers Infinity War” on April 27, 2018. Experts predict that “Infinity War” will bringing between $175 million and $200 million during its first weekend, but that is still less than the $202 million “Black Panther” brought in.

“Black Panther” banked $202 million opening weekend landing fifth-place on the all-time charts. Still at this point “Black Panther” remains Marvel’s highest domestic-grossing film ever and it’s also the tenth highest movie of all time in worldwide sales with $1.29 billion globally.

If “Infinity War” does surpass “Black Panther”, you can bet some of those ticket sales will be from people there to see their new favorite actor Chadwick Boseman reprise his role as Black Panther and Avenger where the world of Wakanda has a pivotal role in the film as The Avengers try to stop Thanos from completing his set of Infinity Stones.

Including the films that would be under Disney’s banner with the recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Disney already owns seven of the top ten worldwide highest grossing films of all time and now with this new milestone they own all of the top three highest grossing domestic films.

  • RUMOR: Meryl Streep Considered To Replace Carrie Fisher As Leia In Episode IX

RUMOR: Meryl Streep Considered To Replace Carrie Fisher As Leia In Episode IX

After the passing of Carrie Fisher, Star Wars fans were left wondering what would happen to her titular role as Princess Leia and since that time rumors about the possibilities have been swirling around the internet like Midi-chlorians swirl around the galaxy far far away. With the production of Episode IX expected to begin in July, the internet is kicking up rumors again and the word is that Meryl Streep is being considered to replace Carrie Fisher as Leia.

According to Fansided, there are several options being considered on how to handle the loss of the actress and still try to keep her character alive in the Star Wars universe, and the one gaining the most stem is that Meryl Streep is seriously being considered to take over the role.

Fans were devastated after the death of the beloved Star Wars princess. Fortunately all of her scenes in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” had already been completed before she died, but this still left fans and filmmakers wondering what to do next.

There is always the option of adding her in with CGI much like they did in “Rogue One”, but this option doesn’t seem befitting to the actress or the character and Lucasfilm said in a statement, “We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.”

A few other options have floated around. Some have suggested a large time jump between “The Last Jedi” and Episode IX and explaining her death in the opening crawl of the film. Others propose ending her story in a Star Wars canon novel or killing Leia on-screen without actually showing her close enough to tell it’s not her.

Truthfully there is no right answer as we all know that Carrie Fisher is irreplaceable, but if the rumors prove true, Meryl Streep could be the next best choice as the two became close friends on the set of “Postcard From The Edge”. The screenplay, by Carrie Fisher, is based on her 1987 semi-autobiographical novel of the same title about her growing as the daughter of the famous actress Debbie Reynolds. Meryl Streep actually played the role of Suzanne Vale who was based on the real-life Fisher.

“Star Wars: Episode IX” is expected in theaters on December 20, 2019, but like all rumors we will just have to wait and see. What we know for now is that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy wanted a prominent role for Leia in Episode IX and with Fisher and Streep’s close friendship and history there probably isn’t a better choice out there if they were going to go the route of replacing her.

Would you want to see Leia’s role recast and do you think Streep is the right person for the job? Let us know what you think in the comments.

  • Live-Action ‘Lady And The Tramp’ Officially In The Works

Live-Action ‘Lady And The Tramp’ Officially In The Works

Another one of your favorite childhood Disney animated classics is getting the Live Action treatment. The 1955 animated Disney classic “Lady and the Tramp” is set to be made into a live action/CG hybrid for Disney’s upcoming digital streaming service.

Lego Ninjago Movie director Charlie Bean has been confirmed as closing a deal to direct a live-action/CG hybrid remake of Disney’s “Lady And The Tramp.”, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.

Bean is a longtime animator who has written on Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack and directed 18 out of the 19 episodes of Disney XD’s Tron: Uprising before making his feature debut with Ninjago. Lady and the Tramp now throws the filmmaker into the live-action world while still keeping him grounded in animation.

Lady and the Tramp, released in 1955, told the love story between a pampered Cocker Spaniel named Lady and a streetwise mongrel named Tramp. Lady finds herself out on the street after her owners have a baby and is saved from a pack by Tramp, who tries to show her how to live her life footloose and collar-free. More doggone adventures ensue. The centerpiece of the movie is the candlelit spaghetti dinner in an alley while two human cooks sing and play “Bella Notte,” considered one of the most iconic scenes in Disney and movie history.

Andrew Bujalski wrote the script for new adaption and Brigham Taylor, who worked on the studio’s remake of The Jungle Book, is producing the project.

  • Disney Removes Weapons from New ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Movie Posters

Disney Removes Weapons from New ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Movie Posters

Disney has removed the weapons from the movie posters for Solo: A Star Wars Story. They released new imagines of Solo: A Star Wars Story’s cast without their iconic blasters.

As you can see in the images, with the same ease that the Empire can erase a planet with the Death Star, Disney has eradicated all traces of blasters from all of the movie posters for the upcoming Han Solo flick with the stroke of a digital pen.

    Solo Blaster Poster

There is not word from Disney about the alterations, but the change on the Solo posters appears to be in response to the recent gun control concerns following the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida last month as well as some plagiarism charges by a freelance artist, according to Movie Web.

    Solo Blaster Poster

Is this a step too far? We’ll leave that for the readers to decide, but blasters have been a part of Star Wars since Episode IV and it’s not like they are going to go back and digitally remove all guns like they did with E.T. and replace them with walkie-talkies… Well… at least we hope not.

I can’t help but think of Han Solo’s famous line here:

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.”

Disney likes to be a head of the curve on social issues, evident with the removal of the bride auction from Disney World’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride.  Their plans for the change started way ahead of the #MeToo movement, though it should be noted that the Redhead is now is packing heat herself. So pirates can’t auction brides, and they can carry guns, but space smugglers cannot carry them…  Got it!

The new Solo posters maybe aren’t as cool to look at, but they’ll keep Lucasfilm and Disney from getting sued and they take them out of anybody accusing them of promoting gun violence. Perhaps it’s the appropriate time to be sensitive for the moment, because it’s not like they will be removing them from the movie or anything that extreme. It’s just a poster and if these were the posters they released first, no one would have even gave it a second thought.

  • ‘Black Panther’ Claws It’s Way Past $1 Billion World Wide

‘Black Panther’ Claws It’s Way Past $1 Billion World Wide

‘Black Panther’ has dominated at the box office from the moment it was released. Marvel’s newest super hero flick has passed the $1 Billion mark world-wide less than a month after hitting theaters.

The studio said Saturday that the milestone is based on Disney’s estimate of ticket sales. The announcement comes on the 26th day of release for the blockbuster. Signs of the film’s success were good from the start – Black Panther more than doubled the amount it was predicted to take in the US and Canada over its opening weekend.

It is the fifth Marvel film to hit $1 Billion world-wide joining “The Avengers,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3,” and “Captain America: Civil War” and it is also the 16th Disney film to do it as well.

“Black Panther” has grossed $521 million domestically, making it the ninth-highest release of all time. In its fourth weekend, “Black Panther” is heading for a $40 million-plus weekend, which would make it the No. 2 superhero release of all time over “The Dark Knight’s” $535 million.

‘Black Panther’ follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman as the titular hero, and Michael B. Jordan as lead villain.

  • Live-Action Aladdin Features 2 New Songs By Oscar Winning La La Land Writing Duo

Live-Action Aladdin Features 2 New Songs By Oscar Winning La La Land Writing Duo

The Academy Awards last Sunday had all the glitz and glamour you would expect, but it also had some news coming off the red carpet that’s really stands out like a shiny gold statuette. La La Land and The Greatest Showman songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul announced before the show that they’re developing two new songs for Disney’s live-action Aladdin remake with longtime Disney composer and songwriter Alan Menken.

After losing an Oscar to a Disney movie, Benj Pasek and Justin are now working with the mouse. If you can’t beat ’em… join ’em. They came close though, with their Greatest Showman smash hit “This Is Me”, but ending up losing out to  “Remember Me,” from Disney’s Coco. Beyond this year the songwriting duo is already quite accomplished having picked up an Oscar last year for writing lyrics to the La La Land tune “City of Stars.”

During their red carpet interview with Variety they talked about their excitement to be a part of the Disney Family and to get to work with Menken.  “We’re really thrilled that we got to collaborate with one of our heroes, Alan Menken, and we collaborated with him and wrote the lyrics for two new songs for Aladdin that’s coming out next year,” Pasek said.

Scoring several prominent Disney animated features, composer Alan Menken is best known for films including The Little MermaidBeauty and the BeastPocahontasThe Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules and Tangled.

Based on a tale from The Arabian Nights, the film is a live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1992 animated hit. The Guy Ritchie film stars Egypt-born Canadian actor Mena Massoud as Aladdin, alongside Will Smith as the Genie. It hits theaters on May 24, 2019.
