Disney World received approval from the state of Florida to reopen its theme parks and now they are adding some new changes to mobile ordering that you may want to hear.
Previously guests would place a Mobile Order and you would receive a notification when the order was ready to be picked up, but now guests will have to select an arrival time and pick up their orders within a thirty minute window.
Another new feature added to Mobile Order is the addition of new payment method options. You can now pay for your order with Apple Pay and Disney Gift Cards and well as with Disney Dining Catds and Disney Reward Redemption cards.
Disney World is making a number of changes to make reopening safe for it’s guests and the new additions to the Mobile Order service will make cashless transactions even easier.
Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will open first, on July 11. Then, Epcot and Hollywood Studios will follow on July 15.
Disney has added a lot of new features to their My Disney Experience app recently including the mobile food ordering service, the new bus wait time feature and even an option to digitally unlock your room directly from your phone. Well the digital key feature has been a success and it will soon be rolled out resort wide.
With the app you can now turn your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone into a digital key that unlocks your hotel room door, representing another seamless room entry option for guests to use in addition to their MagicBands. This technology made its initial debut at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge earlier this year, and this week, Disney is completing its rollout to Disney Resort hotels at Walt Disney World Resort, including Disney Vacation Club properties.
Using a digital key can help add convenience and flexibility to your stay, whether you simply prefer the look and feel of your mobile phone or if you need a backup option after accidentally locking yourself out of your room (it happens to the best of us). The feature was designed with a distinctly Disney touch, and if you listen closely, you’ll hear the sound of pixie dust filling the air as your hotel door opens.
Guests can also use their digital key to unlock the hotel entrance gate and common area doors requiring a key, which may include fitness centers, elevators and club level lounges. And arriving travel parties that have checked in online may even use their digital key to bypass the front desk, similar to what they are able to do with the MagicBand, giving them the opportunity to go directly to their room when it is ready and start their vacation even faster.
Each guest staying in the room with a My Disney Experience account may opt in and activate the feature on their check-in day through a brief set up process in the app. To enter their room, guests tap the “Unlock Door” button and then simply hold their phone against the door lock.
This is the latest in the evolution of keyless room entry, which began with the MagicBand, the unique all-in-one device that allows you to effortlessly access the plans and vacation choices you’ve made in My Disney Experience. Guests can choose to use either or both options for room entry throughout their trip, but please remember to wear your MagicBand for all other uses, including park entry, FastPass+ redemption, linking Disney PhotoPass images and more.
Be sure to download the latest version of My Disney Experience today for iOS or Android to opt in and activate your digital key during your Disney Resort hotel stay and discover all of the other great features in the app.
If you’ve ever wondered when the next bus is going to arrive at your Disney Resort hotel, the answer will now be right at your fingertips. Thanks to another addition to the My Disney Experience App, guests can now use the app to see when the next Walt Disney World Resort bus will be arriving in real-time.
Monday, Disney rolled out a brand new bus time feature in the My Disney Experience mobile app that enables guests to spend less time waiting at the bus stop and more time getting ready for a fun-filled day in the parks. With this feature, guests can quickly discover up-to-the-minute estimates for when the next buses will depart from their Disney Resort hotel and when they will complete their journey to their destination.
The app regularly updates in real-time to provide the most current estimates for buses heading to all four theme parks, two water parks and the Disney Springs area. Guests can access the feature throughout their stay by tapping “See Bus Times” when viewing an active Disney Resort hotel reservation associated with their account.
The new My Disney Experience update also brings a new and improved design to the app, making it easier than ever to navigate and find what you’re looking for – from the new bus time feature and mobile food ordering service to adding tickets, booking FastPass+ selections and discovering key park offerings.
This is just the most recent example of how Disney is using digital technology to make the guest experience even more convenient. During the past year alone, Disney has added app features that allow guests to view room charges, keep track of Disney dining plan usage, check in online to start their vacation even faster, use their mobile devices as a digital key (now available at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and coming soon to additional Disney Resort hotels) and more.
Guests can explore all that’s new in My Disney Experience by updating to the current version of the app, now available in the Apple Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android devices.
Disney is constantly exploring and innovating new enhancements to My Disney Experience as it continues to grow and evolve, so be sure to stay tuned as we bring you all the latest updates.
