  • New Orange Bird Ears Fly into EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival

New Orange Bird Ears Fly into EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival

It’s time to think happy thoughts, because new Orange Bird Minnie ears just arrived in EPCOT for Flower & Garden Festival.

They are so cute, with giant orange chrysanthemum poms-poms for the ears. They’re puffy all the way around, which gives them a 3-D look. The bow is a sparky green sequin material and decorated with orange blossoms. The Orange Bird in the center of the bow is hard enamel, like a pin.

One side of the ears is embroidered with the words HELLO Sunshine! These ears were $29.99. I found them in Mouse Gears, but they are also available at several Festival Merchandise kiosks throughout the World Showcase. Take a closer look below:

So, are you planning on picking up some Orange Bird merchandise this year? Let us know in the comments!

  • Disney Closing at Least 20% of Disney Stores Shifting Focus to e-commerce

Disney Closing at Least 20% of Disney Stores Shifting Focus to e-commerce

Disney will close 20% of its brick-and-mortar Disney Store locations before the end of the year as part of a bigger focus on its e-commerce business, the company said Wednesday.

At least 60 of its North American locations will close, the company said, citing changing consumer behaviors and a desire to link its online shopping experience to its Disney Parks apps and social media platforms. There are about 300 Disney Stores worldwide.

Consumers have been moving to digital shopping over physical locations, and chains including Walmart Inc and Macy’s Inc have shuttered brick-and-mortar stores. The global coronavirus pandemic accelerated that change when people were forced to stay home.

This move is meant to capitalize on consumers’ embrace of online shopping and address what shoppers “expect from a retailer,” said Stephanie Young, president, consumer products games and publishing, in a statement.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world,” Young said. “We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected e-commerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises.”

This won’t affect more than 600 Disney Parks stores and other locations, including Disney stores inside Target stores.

  • Robert Downey Jr. Says ‘Never Say Never’ About Iron Man Return

Robert Downey Jr. Says ‘Never Say Never’ About Iron Man Return

Avenger’s star Robert Downey Jr is open to suiting up for a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark\Iron Man.

Downey concluded an 11-year tenure as the armored Avenger in 2019’s box office-breaking Avengers: Endgame, where Stark sacrifices himself to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) and save the ever-expanding Marvel universe. After confirming in a December interview that he was moving on from Marvel, saying he’s “done all [he] could” with the franchise’s flagship character after a “creatively satisfying” reign launched with 2008’s Iron Man, Downey is leaving the door open to step back into the MCU.

During a recent interview with GQ, Downey, who has was asked how Holland’s new film, Cherry, might affect his career. To which, he said, “Look, Tom won’t be playing Spider-Man when he’s 37. At least I hope not. And when you’re in the MCU, there’s a feeling of all life beginning with it and ending it. But there’s life outside too. I can confirm this. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. It’s funny, I bumped into Keanu [Reeves] the other day, somewhere in Malibu, I think, and he told me he’d just been filming The Matrix again; he’d stepped back into that world that he once occupied. I asked him what it felt like: ‘Like being in Australia.’

What I am saying is there was a Spider-Man before Tom Holland and there will be a Spider-Man after Tom Holland. That’s facts, Tommo. Sorry.”

On being asked the much-awaited question about his return to the MCU, he said, “Well, I have alighted, for now. Real-world to save. But never say never.”

Last year, the Iron Man star did admit he would return to the MCU on one condition.

Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience, the comedian host asked the actor: “Is the door to Iron Man totally closed because I don’t believe it is? You guys can go through time now. You’ve already opened up that door.”

Downey Jr said: “There would have to be a super compelling argument and a series of events that made it obvious… We all have to do what [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin Feige says.”

First Trailer for New Mighty Ducks Series Coming to Disney Plus Released

Disney has released the first official trailer for “The Mighty Ducks” reboot series coming to Disney Plus.

Emilio Estevez will be reprising his role as Coach Gordon Bombay in the new series dubbed “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.”

Disney released the trailer for “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” Thursday, showing Estevez’s character called on to help a mother and her son start a new hockey team. Take a look at the trailer below:

It’s been 25 years since the last iteration of the fictional hockey team. Minnesotans have a special place in their heart for the classic movies that were filmed right in the heart of the Twin Cities, and featured local spots like Mickey’s Diner in St. Paul and Band Box Diner in Minneapolis.

The 10-episode season takes place in 2021 Minnesota and follows 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon), who, after being dropped from the team, works with his mother Alex (Lauren Graham), to form their own squad.

Estevez is an executive producer on the series and Graham is co-executive producer. The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers premieres on Disney+ on Friday, March 26.

  • Six Story Icon Ring Moved into ECOT Lagoon for New Nighttime Spectacular

Six Story Icon Ring Moved into ECOT Lagoon for New Nighttime Spectacular

Disney has not yet determined when “Harmonious”, EPCOT’s next spectacular will debut, but they have given us an update of the progress of the project.

“Early in our plans for the transformation of EPCOT, we recognized the power and potential this new show has to tell a story of global connection and celebration,” Disney said in a post. “This grand, original spectacular is a tribute to the power of story and song that unite us, leveraging music and visuals from across Disney and artists around the world.”

Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment teams are hard at work building on that legacy with “Harmonious,” and while the show is still in the early stages of development with more finishing details to come, you can still take a look at some recent progress in the video below:

“Harmonious” is a global effort, truly embracing the magic of possibility. In recent weeks, Disney Live Entertainment technical designers across the country have been programming various elements of the show, from media and fountains to lighting and pyrotechnics, working in a completely virtual environment. Music producers at Walt Disney Imagineering have been remotely directing recording sessions with an incredibly diverse array of musical artists, performing in studios around the world.

Once complete, “Harmonious” will be one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever produced. They’re busy setting the stage of this innovative toolkit, preparing each of the show’s five floating platforms to take its place on World Showcase Lagoon. Positioned like a compass, these platforms house the primary show equipment for “Harmonious,” and on the recently-placed center platform stands an iconic six-story-tall central ring structure, supporting a high-density water curtain, moving lights, fountains and more.

Marvel Finally Reveals Real ‘Spider-Man 3’ Title

Marvel has revealed that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is the offical title for third “Spider-Man” film.

  • New Baby Rhino Calf Joins the Herd at Animal Kingdom

New Baby Rhino Calf Joins the Herd at Animal Kingdom

A monumental rite of passage was marked yesterday as a new baby rhino, joined by his mom Kendi, made his big savanna debut and joined the crash (a rhino herd) at Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Ranger, the four our-month-old white rhino calf, is the first for the herd in five years and he’s now grown to be more than four times his birth weight, weighing in at nearly 600 pounds.

Ever since his arrival was announced at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park this past October, guests have been wondering about the baby boy rhino and his mom Kendi, since many of them followed Kendi’s pregnancy story on the Disney+ original series “Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom,” produced by National Geographic.

Ranger was eager to explore his new environment with his head high and ears up – plunging right into the mud alongside Kendi for a good wallow before running around to see all the new savanna sights. This rambunctious rhino calf made fast friends with his “aunties” Lola and Jao, and mom Kendi kept close by to make sure Ranger stayed out of trouble. Of course, such an adventurous morning requires lots of energy, so there was plenty of nursing and napping going on, too.

Collectively, Disney’s Animal Care team has hundreds of years of experience, and their teamwork and expertise are crucial to ensuring Ranger’s successful transition to the savanna. But each animal is unique with their own personalities, development and family dynamics, so each onstage introduction is something special.

Kendi was paired with dad Dugan through one of the Species Survival Plans, which are overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to ensure the responsible breeding of endangered species. White rhinos are an endangered species with a near-threatened status.
