New Table-Service Restaurant Coming to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Get yer lasso’s ready, cowpokes, because here is some rootin’ tootin’ news for ya! There’s a brand-new table-service restaurant coming to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Upon entering Andy’s back yard, guests are magically transformed to the size of a toy, surrounded by toys and playsets scattered throughout the area. And soon, guests will discover that a new play area has been set up – and it’s called Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant. But of course, being Andy, it certainly isn’t your usual rodeo…

Using three cardboard boxes cut and taped together, Andy has created a new rodeo arena using some of his favorite toys, games, and play sets. And while some pieces are definitely western-themed, what makes this rodeo special is the broad assortment of toys that have been brought together to create a fun, colorful mashup-atmosphere that only a child could create.

Once inside, you’ll be surrounded by all of the rodeo festivities in-action as well as western town and train station play sets. And you just might spot some of your favorite Disney•Pixar characters scattered throughout the restaurant in the form of toys and game pieces including a toy version of Jessie riding on the back of a Trixie pull-toy and unique toy versions of Bo Peep and her sheep, all who appear to be performing in the rodeo together.

This immersive restaurant will surround guests with a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets, providing yet another unique, fun, family-friendly dining experience that could only be had in Toy Story Land. In the meantime, be sure to check out Woody’s Lunch Box for delicious sandwiches, Lunch Box Tarts, and more!

VIDEO: Disney Shares Details on New Nighttime Experience Coming to Hollywood Studios

Last year we received news of an all-new cinematic nighttime experience called “Wonderful World of Animation,” coming to Hollywood Studios and today Disney has released new video giving us a sneak peek at the new show.

The all-new nighttime experience will make it’s debut May 1 and it uses state-of-the-art projection mapping technology and other effects to take guests on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation.

The team at Disney Parks Live Entertainment has been working on the show for months and are now in the final stages of programming and preparation. Over the last couple weeks, the production team and creative designers, representing audio, video, lighting, music and special effects disciplines, have gone in after the park is closed for the day, fine-tuning everything to get it just right for the grand opening. Take a peek below for a look behind the scenes:

“Wonderful World of Animation” begins with the one-and-only Mickey Mouse, celebrating his starring role in “Fantasia” before launching into other sequences filled with magic, family, adventure, romance, villainy and friendship. Each theme is brought to life through unforgettable moments from Disney and Pixar animated films, from “Coco” and “The Incredibles” to “Sleeping Beauty” and “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

With nods to the vast library from Disney and Pixar Animation Studios’ long legacy, “Wonderful World of Animation” is the perfect complement to an exhilarating day of adventures at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and a great way to celebrate the park’s 30th anniversary.

BREAKING: Offical Ban on Plastic Straws Now in Effect at Disney World

As we previously reported, Disney announced they would eliminating single-use plastic straws at at all owned and operated locations across the globe and it appears that Earth Day is the day they decided to officially make the change.

According to multiple first hand accounts, plastic straws are no longer avaiable at Disney World Resort and they have been replaced with paper straws.

Though the ban is already in effect, you may still find some unused inventory still in circulation throughout the resort as you can see in the post below:

It is a resort-wide change that affects not only the theme parks, but water parks, resorts and Disney Springs as well.

Last July, Bob Chapek, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Consumer Products said, “Eliminating plastic straws and other plastic items are meaningful steps in our long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship.”

Disney hasn’t made an official statement yet, but the change has been rolled out. Disneyland Paris had made the change too, following a vote from the European parliament last month to eliminate plastic straws and cutlery by 2021.

  • Earth Day at Disney World Celebrated with New Solar Facility Capable of Powering Two Theme Parks

Earth Day at Disney World Celebrated with New Solar Facility Capable of Powering Two Theme Parks

Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating Earth Day with the unveiling of a massive new 270-acre, 50-megawatt solar facility and sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the massive solar facility that’s helping to power the magic by harnessing power from the sun.

Built in collaboration with the Reedy Creek Improvement District and solar developer Origis Energy USA, this facility is expected to generate enough renewable clean energy to operate two of Disney’s four theme parks in Central Florida annually, all while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50,000 tons per year. That’s equivalent to removing about 10,000 automobiles from the roads annually.

For an inside look, take a peak at the video below:

Located adjacent to State Road 429, the facility is expected to generate enough renewable clean energy to operate two of Disney’s four theme parks in Central Florida annually. It will also significantly reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by tens of thousands of tons per year, joining the numerous efforts The Walt Disney Company has launched to deliver its 2020 goal of reducing emissions by 50% compared to 2012.

“At Disney, every day is Earth Day, and we hope our guests and cast members will be as inspired and amazed as we are at what this new solar facility means for our community and planet,” said Angie Renner, Environmental Integration Director, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. “This is an ambitious step forward for our renewable energy efforts.”

The solar facility is also providing an important habitat for native wildlife in Central Florida. A team of environmental and horticulture experts from Disney collaborated to help make more than two-thirds of the facility pollinator friendly, with the goal of creating a nurturing and welcoming habitat for butterflies, bees and other insects, including endangered and at-risk species. This team is also managing and monitoring an experimental test garden at the facility to conduct research and further enhance the habitat. The effort to safeguard endangered pollinators aligns with the Disney Conservation Fund’s ongoing focus on saving wildlife, including butterflies.

The solar facility represents the largest endeavor in solar energy to date for Disney’s global theme park operations. In 2016, Walt Disney World Resort unveiled a 22-acre, 5-megawatt solar facility shaped like Mickey Mouse, as part of a collaboration with the Reedy Creek Improvement District and Duke Energy. Both facilities are contributing to Disney’s long-term sustainability goals, which include reaching zero net greenhouse gas emissions, reaching zero waste, reducing single-use plastics and conserving water resources.

These conservation efforts build on the longtime commitment to environmental stewardship by The Walt Disney Company, a tradition that began with Walt Disney himself, and has grown through the creativity and passion of its cast members.

    KEY FACTS:

    • The facility features over half a million solar panels, spans 270 acres and is capable of reaching 50 megawatts of power.
    • During peak sun hours, up to 25% of Walt Disney World’s power needs will be met through solar energy.
    • The facility will generate enough renewable clean energy to power two of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks annually.
    • This is the largestsolar facility in Orange County at 50 megawatts.
    • This solar facility will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50,000 tons per year, the equivalent of removing about 10,000 cars from the roads annually.
    • Disney environmental and horticulture experts helped make more than two-thirds of the facility pollinator friendly with plant species that attract insects like butterflies and bees.
    • This solar facility provides power to Walt Disney World Resort, the largest single-site employer in the country.
