New Rainbow Magic Shots at Disney World Celebrate Pride Month

Disney World has added new “Rainbow Magic Shots” to help you celebrate PRIDE this June! When I read about the new Magic Shots online I decided I wanted to capture a rainbow in each park. So, last week I did all four parks in two days. Keep reading to see them all and find out where and how you can get them.

    The Details

Each of the four parks has two Magic Shots. I initially thought that each park had two unique Magic Shots, making it a total of 8, but there’s really only two total. That means you can pick your favorite park and get them both there if you want! The official Disney names are “Rainbow Magic Swirl” and “Floating Rainbow Magic Shot.” But, the Cast Members I spoke to had their own names. I heard them referred to as “Rainbow Swirl” and “Rainbow in Your Hands.”

    Where to Find Them

The easiest way to find the location of a Rainbow Magic Shot is to head to the landmark of each park and look for a PhotoPass Photographer (They’re Cast Members in Khaki Vests). In some cases I was only able to find one, because even the Cast Members didn’t know exact locations.

Hollywood Studios: Hollywood Blvd. leading to the Chinese Theater, and Sunset Blvd. leading to Tower of Terror.
Epcot: Has two entrances, so it makes sense that you’ll find one at each. There’s one in front of Spaceship Earth, and one at the International Gateway in front of a large topiary butterfly. International Gateway is the back entrance to Epcot between the UK and France. You can get there by parking at Hollywood Studios and taking a Friendship Boat or the Skyliner.
Animal Kingdom: the first one is front of the Tree of Life at the park entrance. I asked around at other PhotoPass locations was didn’t find the second one.
Magic Kingdom: One of the locations is of course Cinderella Castle! There are several spots to get photos along Main Street. I chose to walk as close as I could to the castle. While waiting in a line in the middle of Main Street I noticed a PhotoPass Photographer to the left, between the two patches of Hub Grass standing by himself. So, I asked if he could do the Rainbow Shot for me. He said yes!

    The Results

Here are my Rainbow Magic Shots! I did use Lightroom on my phone to brighten these images.

How to Make Sure You Get A Rainbow Magic Shot

Here are a few tips if you want to get a Rainbow Magic Shot for yourself.
First, make sure you’re in front of a park icon like Cinderella Castle, The Tree of Life, Spaceship Earth, or Tower of Terror. Second, ASK! Don’t be afraid to politely ask a Photopass Photographer if they can do the Rainbow MagicShot for you. Third, make sure you visit during the month of June. Happy PRIDE to all my LGBTQ+ friends!

  • Disney World Begins Digitally Inserting Masks on Ride Photos

Disney World Begins Digitally Inserting Masks on Ride Photos

Walt Disney World is reportedly digitally inserting masks on park guests who take their masks off on rides.

Prior to this, the park would not provide parkgoers access to ride photos in which masks were not in place properly, meaning anyone else on the same ride would be affected by the actions of anyone not wearing their masks properly.

The practice can be seen in a photo from the Dinosaur ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, according to a guest who posted the photo to the Facebook group Disney World Junkies. Take a look below:

    Photo: Tony Townsend

In the photo a passenger can be seen in the back row of the ride vehicle with an oversized black mask over the face that seems digitally placed.

On Disney’s FAQ page on masks, it states, “If anyone in your ride vehicle’s mask is removed during an on-ride photo, you will not see or receive that photo.”

  • Outraged Fans Create Petition Asking Disney to Keep PhotoPass Photographers

Outraged Fans Create Petition Asking Disney to Keep PhotoPass Photographers

Disney World has replaced more PhotoPass Photographers with more automated cameras at character meet-and-greets across Disney Parks and now some upset guests have launched a petition on change.org that is quickly gaining attention.

According to the petition, the photogs capture “more than just a picture and add a touch that can’t be replaced.”

Many upset Disney fans have taken to the internet to voice their frustrations and even show the difference between photos taken with real PhotoPass Photographers and the new automated counterparts as you can see in the post below:

Disney made the move to automate cameras last fall at nine of their character greeting locations. There are currently over 60,000 signatures on the petition.

“Please help overturn this decision and keep our wonderful Disney Photographers. It’s so important we do not let the magic slide. Keep the magic alive Disney,” the petition continues.

These new automated cameras use AI software to capture candid and posed character photos, but are locked in a stationary position so the characters and character attendants are left to make sure everyone is in view of the camera.

  • Edna Mode Meet and Greet Now Open in Hollywood Studios

Edna Mode Meet and Greet Now Open in Hollywood Studios

As we reported last year, there are many new and limited-time experiences coming to Walt Disney World in 2019 one of them is reall incredible! You can now meet Edna Mode—famous Super Suit designer—from Disney•Pixar’s 2004 film, The Incredibles and its 2018 sequel, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

A corner of the park, located by Toy Story Land, has been transformed into a city block straight of Municiberg, the city Mr. Incredible works hard to protect.

Inside her design studio you can see custom artwork designed by Edna herself. The space is sleek and stylish, but what else would you expect from this style maven, Dahling? Take a look below at some of the fun you can have while meeting her. Just No Capes!

When I met Edna I made sure to be well dressed, as I didn’t want to be scolded by the demanding designer. I think she approved of my dress!

  • Trip Report: Playing At Toy Story Land During Disney’s Early Morning Magic

Trip Report: Playing At Toy Story Land During Disney’s Early Morning Magic

Are you ready to Play Big at the new Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Now you can take advantage of Disney Early Morning Magic, which allows you entry into Andy’s backyard before the park opens!

I got to experience this magical time first hand and we were able to ride Slinky Dog 3 times with no wait, and met Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear. This limited entry experience guarantees little to no wait times, character meets, and breakfast. This is the perfect opportunity to zoom around Andy’s Backyard on Slinky Dog Dash, escape into space on Alien Swirling Saucers, and rack up some points on Toy Story Mania.

I’m all about the pictures, so if you want amazing PhotoPass pictures, then this is the event for you. Below are a few of the photos we took last week and as you can see it looks like we’re the only ones in the Park!

    Hollywood Studios Taft

The experience also includes a continental buffet featuring yogurt, fruit, pastries, and assorted cereal as well as your choice of a tasty main dish like avocado toast or fried chicken and donuts with maple glaze. The breakfast setup will be available at the ABC Commissary, a quick service dining location outside of Toy Story Land.

After you’re done eating and riding I recommend taking some time to soak in the ambiance on Hollywood Boulevard. There are a lot of little hidden details in this part of the park. Don’t forget to look up at the windows! When the park opens at Rope Drop most guests will be heading to Toy Story Land, so this is the perfect opportunity to get more great pictures around the park with no people in them.

The Disney Early Morning Magic experience costs $79 plus tax for adults (ages 10+) and $69 plus tax for children ages 3-9. Tickets are limited. A separate ticket for admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is required and is not included in the experience price.
