Walt Disney dropped the first teaser for Pixar’s big summer 2020 flick “Soul” today on Good Morning America asking some serious existential questions.
What do you want to be remembered for? That’s the central question in “Soul,” Disney and Pixar’s upcoming existential animated adventure about a middle school music teacher (voiced by Jamie Foxx) who dreams of being a jazz performer.
“Soul” concerns Joe, a middle-school band teacher, whose true passion is playing jazz, and who gets his dream gig moments before he dies. Take a look at the trailer below:
The trailer opens with Joe asking, “What would you want to be known for on Earth?” A montage follows that shows people in their everyday lives, including commuting in a busy city and working jobs like a doctor, barber and hedge fund manager. “We only have a short time on this planet. You wanna become the person that you were born to be? Don’t waste your time on all the junk of life,” Joe continues in a voiceover.
On his journey to get back to his own body, Joe meets Tina Fey‘s 22, a soul who can’t stand humans but helps Joe on his mission across the cosmos. Other characters are voiced by Blindspotting‘s Daveed Diggs, The Cosby Show‘s Phylicia Rashad, and The Roots drummer Questlove.
Co-directed by Pete Doctor and Kemp Powers, and produced by Dana Murray, “Soul” will be in theaters on June 19.
Alaska Airlines has revealed its special-edition plane themed after Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park.
Alaska Airlines has had a great relationship with Disneyland Resort for the past 20 years. This is the sixth painted plane from Alaska Airlines that allows our guests to be immersed in a Disneyland Resort celebration even before they arrive at the parks. The inaugural flight departed today from Seattle, with a stop in San Francisco for a gate ceremony and then on to its ultimate arrival in Orange County.
The aircraft is aptly named, “Friendship and Beyond at Disneyland Resort” and is a whimsical tribute to the parks newest land, which opened back in June of 2018. Take a look at how this amazing paint job was added to the air plane:
The unique aircraft design is a collaboration between Alaska Airlines, the Disneyland Resort and Pixar Animation Studios. The Pixar Pier-themed 737-800, tail number N537AS, begins flying throughout Alaska’s route network today, welcoming guests with its artistic flair for many years to come.
The exterior of the plane required more than 2,800 work hours and 24 days using 50 gallons of paint in 44 primary colors and custom shades. The Toy Story trio of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie span both sides of the aircraft, while Aliens can be spotted on both winglets. Even Rex the Tyrannosaurus makes a special appearance (hint: he is in a place that will welcome everyone boarding the aircraft). On board while supplies last, little ones may enjoy the Disneyland Resort Activity Fun Book and Kids’ Choice Picnic Pack.
Forky Fans will be happy to hear that, as promised, the new and improved Forky Plush with embroidered eyes have made their way back on the shelves in Disney parks.
Back in early July, Disney voluntarily recalled over 80,000 Forky Plush dolls from Pixar’s Toy Story 4 after claims of a dangerous chocking hazard with the dolls famous glued on googly eyes.
Fans of the newly favorited character were sad to see him pulled off the shelves and the website. The Disney company also encouraged anyone who had purchased the 11″ plush to return the doll for a full refund.
Forky is priced at $19.99 and can now go home and enjoy being a toy.
Disney announced this morning that Pixar’s next animated feature film is “Soul” and it will hit theaters next summer.
“Soul” will be the second original Pixar film next year after “Onward,”which bows March 6.
Disney made the announcement via tweet earlier today. Take a look below:
One year from today, Pixar Animation Studios will take you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life's most important questions. Disney & Pixar's "Soul" arrives in theaters on June 19, 2020. pic.twitter.com/D3VP8Tw4RM
Disney didn’t give many details about the movie other than a logline that reads: “Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from? What is it that makes you… YOU? In 2020, Pixar Animation Studios takes you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions.”
The film is directed by Pete Docter (“Up,” “Inside Out”) and produced by Dana Murray (“Lou” short film), and will open in theaters one year from today on June 19, 2020.
The newest trailer for ‘Toy Story 4” was released today and Sporky isn’t the only new face in the movie. The movie also introduces Duke Caboom, Canada’s greatest stuntman, voice by Keanu Reeves.
Duke Caboom is a real “poser,” according to Bo Peep, but he’s the perfect toy to help track down a missing toy.
Take a look at the trailer below:
“Toy Story 4”, written by Stephany Folsom and Andrew Stanton and directed by Josh Cooley, opens June 21, 2019.
For a limited time this summer, a preview of scenes from Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” will be presented in sneak peeks coming to Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line.
At Disneyland park, the preview of “Toy Story 4” will be presented at the Tomorrowland Theater beginning May 24, and starting the same day Disney’s Hollywood Studios will include this advance look at a portion of the film as part of the Walt Disney Presents attraction. Guests aboard Disney Cruise Line can catch the sneak peek during sailings between May 24 and June 20, and Disneyland Paris will offer this unique opportunity in the Studio Theater at Walt Disney Studios Park from June 18 – 28.
Here’s Tony Hale, who provides the voice of Forky in the film, to tell you more below:
When we catch up with him in Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
