  • After Internet Confusion Disney World Is NOT Reversing Resort Parking Fees

After Internet Confusion Disney World Is NOT Reversing Resort Parking Fees

As we reported Wednesday Walt Disney World will begin charging guests a fee for overnight parking at their resorts as of March 21, 2018. They have received serious backlash over the new fee and after a brief ‘glitch” on the Disney World official website, the new updated pricing information was missing causing a bit of excitement for many guests.

Don’t get too excited yet though because, if you check the official Walt Disney World Parking page you will see the new overnight parking fees are back and aren’t going anywhere. Well…  More like, if they disappear from the site again, it doesn’t mean they’ve changed their minds.

For a moment earlier on Thursday it simply said “Standard self-parking at Resort hotels is complimentary for Resort Guests. Valet parking is available at select Disney Deluxe Resorts for $25 per day.” You can see the apparent internet mishap in the picture below .

    Disney Parking Fee

The internet quickly blew up with people hoping that Disney had listened to complaints, but Disney isn’t usually in the habit of reversing decisions like this after they have become public.

Maybe Stitch ate the page and they had to make a new one. In any event, the change is permanent and still coming in March. Disney World’s website now again lists the full details of the resort overnight parking fees. You can take a look at the full break down of pricing details here.

New Details For Star Wars Resort Planned for Walt Disney World Resort

Disney has revealed more details about its theme park projects around the globe and at the D23 Expo Japan on Sunday, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek, gave us some new details on the upcoming Star Wars themed resort that promises to be ‘Unlike Anything That Exists Today’.

Last summer, Disney announced plans for an immersive Star Wars-inspired resort to be built at Walt Disney World Resort. The company now says that hotel will be “seamlessly connected” to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios set to open in 2019.

This first-of-its-kind resort will combine luxury with complete immersion into an authentic Star Wars story. Guests’ journey through space will start when everyone departs together for a multiday Stars Wars adventure by boarding a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during a voyage through the galaxy.

At the resort, guests immediately become active citizens of the galaxy and can dress up in the proper attire. Every resort window will also have a view into space. The opportunity for immersion at this resort will also stand out among all Disney resorts around the globe, as it will be seamlessly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, allowing guests a total Star Wars experience.

  • Credit Card Fraud Operation Broken Up On Disney World Property

Credit Card Fraud Operation Broken Up On Disney World Property

A man suspected in a credit card fraud operation was arrested, while staying on Disney World property, by the Secret Service with the help of Walt Disney World security.

A credit card that had been used to check into a room at Art of Animation had been flagged after multiple transactions on the card were noticed by Disney security according to a report by WFTV. “Agents found around $5,000 in fraudulent purchases had been made on the one card.” the report says.

After checking in for a two-week stay, excessive purchases made on the card in the Disney Spring’s area were noticed by Disney Security and they went to the room to investigate.

The Disney security team went to the room in the “Cars” area of the resort, entering the room when no one answered, according to the Secret Service. Once inside the room they found numerous credit cards prompting them to call the Secret Service.

While investigators were still in the room, four men from Brazil showed up. Agents found a card encoder in the room and multiple credit cards inside luggage belonging to a guest named Fabio Valdarnini.

The guest was arrested and now investigators will try to track down where the men have been and if there are any other victims. Valdarnini is currently being held in the Orange County jail.

  • Disney’s Gondola System Costs $3.8 Million For Electrical Work Alone

Disney’s Gondola System Costs $3.8 Million For Electrical Work Alone

Walt Disney World’s gondola system is already under construction and it comes with a hefty price tag.

This new transportation system, known as Disney Skyliner, carries guests through the air from select Disney resorts to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Reedy Creek officials approved a $3.8 million construction budget Wednesday for just the electric services on the project alone.

Reedy Creek Energy Service’s, Manager for planning and engineering, Jason Herrick said, construction on the electrical infrastructure that will power the gondola system could begin in the next six months or sooner.

According to a bid proposal submitted by Apopka-based Carter Electric the work should be completed by October.

Reedy Creek documents show that just one part of the gondola project, which will include four switches, six transformers and 9,000 feet of cable (about 1.7 miles’ worth) — will cost $1.2 million.

The six points of service will be built by Reedy Creek and one each could possibly have multiple transformers to run the transportation system, according to Reedy Creek district administrator John Classe. Having multiple service points is important so, in the event of a power failure, there’s an electricity backup to the keep the system running, said Classe.

In December, more details were released showing that select Disney Skyliner cabins will have iconic Disney characters featured on the outside of the gondolas. Guests will experience an unforgettable journey and a picturesque view of Walt Disney World Resort as they take to the sky and get a birds-eye view of the resort like never before.

  • A Cashless Disney World Could Be The Way Of The Future

A Cashless Disney World Could Be The Way Of The Future

Disney is always a leader when it comes to new technology and once again they are using it to help make guests experiences as simple as possible. Walt Disney World will begin testing a pilot program at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, which will allow for all electronic payments for services and purchases. A cashless Disney is something they feel will be a convenience for guests.

The pilot begins February, 12 2018 and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House will be the first place at the resort to go cashless. Disney has already begun advising guests with resort or dining reservations of the upcoming change.

Disney has been a leader when it comes to electronic payments implementing MagicBands in 2013 that you can use for purchasing and becoming one of the first to accept Apple Pay in 2014. A cashless Disney World in the near future is not out of the realm of possibility.

If you are used to carrying cash here is a list of the forms of payment the resort will be accepting.

    • MagicBands
    • Credit cards
    • Debit cards
    • Disney Gift Cards
    • Disney Rewards Redemption Cards
    • Apple Pay
    • Samsung Pay
    • Google Pay

Although the resort will be cashless during the pilot period, you can still use cash for tips and the like and guests staying at the resort can still use cash to add to their room charge capabilities.

It’s not know exactly how long the test will run, but you can be sure that if the results are positive, we will be seeing this rolled out across the entire resort one day.
