    Select Character Sighting Locations Added to Disney Genie+

    The latest update to Disney Genie+ Service has extra … character!

    Starting Jan. 26, Guests who have purchased the Disney Genie+ Service will find select Character Sightings have been added as selections for Lightning Lane entry.

    Keep reading to find out which characters you can see.

    • Cinderella and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall at Magic Kingdom Park
    • Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall at Magic Kingdom Park
    • Mickey at Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom Park 
    • Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

    Seeing characters by using the standby entrance will still be available, but the Genie+ option gives guests another way to visit their best pal, Disney Princesses or everyone’s favorite snowman who is worth melting for. These will also still modified experiences; no touching or hugging characters.

    How to Meet Your Favorite Characters During Disney World’s Phased Reopening

    Traditional parades and character greetings are on hiatus to promote physical distancing among guests during Disney World’s phased reopening so Disney has reimagined theme park character experiences in new and different ways.

    From cavalcades down Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park to sailings down Discovery River at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and much more, characters from dozens of favorite Disney stories will surprise and delight guests across all four theme parks.

    These are just some of the reimagined experiences guests will discover as the theme parks begin their phased reopening.

    Magic Kingdom Park (reopening July 11, 2020)

    • “The Royal Princess Processional” –Several times daily, favorite Disney princesses travel through the streets of Magic Kingdom. Princess Merida leads the way on her steed Angus, followed closely by a gazebo float and crystal castle carrying Cinderella, Tiana, Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Rapunzel and others.
    • “Mickey and Friends Cavalcade” – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their pals pop up throughout the day, inviting everyone to “Get Their Ears On” as they wave to guests along the park’s parade route.
    • Cinderella’s Evil Stepsisters – From time to time, guests in Fantasyland may spot the dastardly Anastasia and Drizella and can interact with them from afar while they’re perched on a balcony of Cinderella Castle.

    Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park (reopening July 11, 2020)

    • “Donald’s Dino Boat Bash!”– Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Launchpad McQuack wave to guests from their party boat as “Donald’s Dino Bash!” moves from DinoLand U.S.A. to Discovery River.
    • “Discovery River Character Cruise” – Throughout the day, guests can see Timon and Rafiki or Pocahontas with Meeko, who will set sail on the parks’ waterways.
    • Discovery Island Drummers – These high-energy percussionists cruise along Discovery River, entertaining guests on the shore with an energetic beat.

    EPCOT (reopening July 15, 2020)

    • “Mickey and Friends World Tour” – As guests travel around World Showcase, they may come upon Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and Goofy all out sightseeing and waving to their friends.
    • “Frozen Promenade” – Queen Anna and Elsa venture into the unknown around World Showcase, journeying from country to country and waving hello to guests along the way.

    Disney’s Hollywood Studios (reopening July 15, 2020)

    • Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – While living their own adventures in a galaxy far, far away, guests are likely to come across some familiar faces as they explore Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu:
      • Heroes of the Resistance, including Rey, Chewbacca and Vi Moradi, may be spotted on platforms above the garage in Black Spire Station or surveying activity around the spaceport where the Millennium Falcon has landed.
      • A contingent of First Order Stormtroopers join Kylo Ren in patrolling the landing platform at Docking Bay 9 beneath their TIE Echelon assault vehicle.
    • “Pixar Pals Motorcade” – Some of the biggest stars from Pixar Animation Studios’ films arrive on Hollywood Boulevard, from The Incredibles to Toy Story pals and more. They’ll wave to their fans as they head down the avenue accompanied by a celebratory musical score.
    • “Disney Junior Stars Motorcade” – Throughout the day, Disney Junior stars including Fancy Nancy, Doc McStuffins and Vampirina will cruise down Hollywood Boulevard waving to fans from colorful custom convertibles.

    New Mickey Mouse Meet & Greet Coming to Epcot

    multi-year transformation of Epcot is underway that will reimagine the park while keeping true to the original vision and with it comes new places to meet and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse himself!

    Mickey will soon be making appearances in a new location at the Imagination! pavilion, as part of the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival. Just inside the entrance, you’ll discover Mickey greeting his fans and celebrating his on-screen stardom.

    Formerly Mickey and pals could be found at Meet Disney Pals at the Epcot Character Spot which closed back in July as part of the massive multi-year overhaul.

    Mickey’s imagination has led to a career in the movies for 90 years and counting, featuring roles in dozens of short films such as “Get A Horse” which you can enjoy as part of the festival. Look for Mickey to arrive at the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival in early 2020!

    New Fancy Nancy and Vampirina Meet & Greet Now on Disney Cruise Line

    Two of your favorite Disney Junior characters, Fancy Nancy and Vampirina, are now setting sailing on Disney Cruise Line!

    Guests of all ages can meet Disney Junior friends around the ship for special photo opportunities. Inside Disney’s Oceaneer Club, kids are able to take part in special, interactive activities inspired by these beloved characters.

    You can add a little fanciness to your life with “Fancy It Yourself with Fancy Nancy!” With the help of Disney Cruise Line’s “magnifique” entertainment hosts, kids will create their very own artwork and fancy signatures that will be displayed throughout the room to transform the space into a beautiful Play Palace. They’ll also participate in several fancy lessons by learning how to walk fancy, talk fancy and have a fancy tea party. Fancy Nancy even joins in on the fun to congratulate everyone on everything that makes them unique and fantastique!

    You can also rock out with your best monster moves at the “Dancelvania Dance Party” with Vampirina! Kids will create their own spook-tastic looks and dance to popular songs from the hit show. Of course, this spooktacular party wouldn’t be complete without Vampirina herself stopping by to dance and congratulate everyone on their monsterific moves and fang-tastic creations!

    Fancy Nancy and Vampirina join the lineup of other great Disney Junior characters and activities aboard Disney ships like “Doc McStuffins Toy Hospital” where children can become Jr. Toy Doctors, and “Mickey Mouse and the Roadster Racers” where you can build and race your own roadster to win the Cruise Line Cup. On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, there is even a Disney Junior-themed play area where children can be immersed in the worlds of their favorite characters.

    BREAKING: Epcot Character Spot and More Set to Close this Fall

    As we previously reported, a multi-year transformation of Epcot is underway and today, Disney announced that Meet Disney Pals at the Epcot Character Spot and other locations will temporarily close as part of the massive multi-year overhaul.

    On September 8, 2019, refurbishment will begin on the core of Future World, including the area between Spaceship Earth and World Showcase Promenade. While this work is underway, offerings at and around the Fountain of Nations will be temporarily relocated or closed. 

    New Locations for Character Experiences – Coming Soon
    Take a look below to find out where you can meet some of your favorite Disney Characters during the refurbishment period.

    • Minnie Mouse will move into the World Showcase Gazebo.
    • Daisy Duck will move to The American Adventure.
    • While new locations are being developed for Mickey Mouse and Goofy, they will temporarily appear in Innoventions West.
    • In the near future, Mickey Mouse will move to an all-new location in the Imagination! Pavilion. 
    • Goofy will venture out into the park—and soon will find a new home.
    • Joy will move soon too—to a joyous new home.
    • And a silly old bear will return to the United Kingdom pavilion—welcome back Winnie the Pooh, who will greet Guests at Christopher Robin’s bedroom beginning in September 2019!

    Other locations closing as to make way for the transformation include: Club Cool, Fountain View Starbucks, Colortopia, and Camera Center.

    Captain Marvel Meet and Greet Coming to Disney Cruise Line in 2019

    Today, Disney announced that Disney Cruise Line guests will be the first to meet Captain Marvel when she makes her meet and greet debut during exclusive Marvel Day at Sea sailings in 2019!

    For the first time ever, guests will encounter one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel universe as part of an action-packed, day-long celebration aboard select Disney Magic sailings departing Jan. 6 through March 8 from Miami.

    Captain Marvel joins the event’s awesome line-up of Super Heroes and villains, including Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Loki, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and more. With this VIP list of heroes, even Tony Stark would be envious!

    In addition to these heroic encounters, Marvel Day at Sea features an extraordinary deck show spectacular, themed youth activities, special merchandise, and unique food and beverage offerings.

    Vampirina Arrives at Disney Parks This Weekend

    As we previously reported, Vampirina (aka “Vee”), that lovable girl vampire from the hit Disney Junior series “Vampirina,” is making her way to Disney Parks and this weekend she finally makes her grand debut.

    Starting this weekend, Vampirina is stopping by Disneyland Resort for Halloween Time, meeting fans at Disney California Adventure park and getting ready to make a special appearance in the “Frightfully Fun Parade” during Mickey’s Halloween Party.

    Disney also announced that Vampirina is on her way to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Park! During the party, you can show off your best dance moves with Vee and other favorite Disney Junior pals at the all-new Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam. And be sure to catch Vampirina’s official Disney Parks welcome as part of the live stream of Mickey’s “Boo to You” Halloween Parade on Sunday, September 9, at 9:25 p.m. Eastern/6:25 p.m. Pacific, right here on the Disney Parks Blog!

    New Character Dining Experience Coming to Disney World This WInter

    Disney has just announced that a new character dining experience will be coming to Walt Disney World this winter!

    The all-new character dining experience will feature Snow White and friends and will be making its home at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

    Storybook Dining at Artist Point will invite guests to venture into an Enchanted Forest-like setting inspired by Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” There, you’ll enjoy a delicious meal of fantastic fare with visits from Snow White, Dopey and Grumpy. Delightful music and activities will help bring the classic fairytale to life, and you’ll even have an opportunity for an encounter with The Queen.

    Evil Queen

    This immersive character dinner takes place amidst the rustic elegance and exceptional dining that Artist Point is known for. You’ll enjoy a uniquely themed prix fixe menu, including shared starters, a choice of individual plated entrees and ‘sweet spells’ to finish the meal.

    We’ll keep you updated as more details become available, including menu offerings, an opening date and when you can book reservations, as well as where you might be able to find select fan-favorite Artist Point menu items in the future.

    New Concept Art Unveiled for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

    The Great Movie Ride closed on August 13, 2017, to make room for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and today, new concept art from the upcoming attraction has been released by Disney.

    Though it was sad for many guests to see The Great Movie Ride go, what is to come is pretty unique. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway makes for the first ever Mickey-themed ride-through attraction. The new attraction will totally immerse guests in a cartoon world and will feature a new catchy theme song created especially for the attraction.

    On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll step through the movie screen and join Mickey and his friends like never before. The attraction will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short where you’re the star and anything can happen. This zany out-of-control adventure features surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes.

    Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

    The fun begins when you see the premiere of a new cartoon short with Mickey and Minnie preparing for a picnic. As they head out, they drive alongside a train and find out that the engineer is Goofy. Then, one magical moment lets you step into the movie and on Goofy’s train for a wacky, wild ride.

    The teams helping create the attraction are currently working with partners at Disney Television Animation to keep the characters and storyline authentic – and allow guests to join Mickey and his friends like never before. The attraction is planned to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2019.
