    Actor Luis Ángel Jaramillo, the voice behind the character of Miguel in the Latin American release of the Disney•Pixar film “Coco,” recently visited the Disneyland Resort for the first time. While exploring Disneyland park, Luis Ángel also met up with the famed Mariachi Divas for an impromptu performance!

    EPCOT CELEBRATES THE DISNEY PIXAR FILM ‘COCO’

    At Epcot This holiday season, you will get a taste of the magic and music of Disney Pixar’s blockbuster film “Coco,” which is now playing in theaters.

    From now until Jan. 6, 2018, El Mariachi Coco de Santa Cecilia, a new musical group inspired by the film, will entertain you at the Mexico Pavilion. Named for the town of Santa Cecilia seen in the film, El Mariachi Coco de Santa Cecilia perform songs from the movie including the beautiful “Remember Me” and the heartwarming “The World Es Mi Familia.”

    The film “Coco” revolves around Miguel, who dreams of becoming an accomplished musician – despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events during the celebration of the Dia de Muertos. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

    Later this season, Mexico Folk Art Gallery, which currently houses a spectacular collection of “Dia De Muertos” artwork, also will feature an interactive exhibit and festive dioramas showcasing scenes from the film.

    In addition to this new musical experience, you can enjoy “Las Posadas,” featuring colorful dancers and performers from Mariachi Cobre celebrating the holiday customs of Mexico during the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays.

    Disney-Pixar’s ‘Coco’ breaks box office record in Mexico

    Disney-Pixar’s animated family comedy “Coco” has set a box office record in Mexico, becoming the top film as measured in local currency.

    “Coco,” which premiered at the Morelia Film Festival, has taken in 824 million pesos — or $43.1 million — through its first 19 days and will pass the mark of 827 million pesos grossed by “The Avengers” during its entire run. The film debuted Oct. 27 — two days before the start of the three-day Dia De Los Muertos holiday and has held the top spot at the box office for its first three consecutive weeks.

    “Coco” opens Nov. 22 in the U.S., followed by China on Nov. 23, and Russia on Nov. 24. The film is currently rated at 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

    Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”) directed and Adrian Molina (story artist on “Monsters University”) co-directed. The producer is Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”).

    The central charcter is Miguel, a 12-year-old who dreams of becoming a musician and is voiced by Anthony Gonzalez. He meets a trickster named Hector (Gael García Bernal) and sets off to find out the real story behind Miguel’s family history in the Land of the Dead.

    Other members of the voice cast include Ana Ofelia Murguía, Jaime Camil, Sofía Espinosa, Luis Valdez, Lombardo Boyar, Benjamin Bratt, Renée Victor, Edward James Olmos, Alanna Ubach, Selene Luna, Alfonso Arau, Herbert Siguenza, Octavio Solis, Gabriel Iglesias, Cheech Marin, and Blanca Araceli.
