Disney Cruise Line Sued by Worker Claiming Female Boss Created Hostile Work Environment

Disney Cruise Line is being sued by a former employee, who claims he worked in a hostile work environment and that the company discriminated against him because he’s a man and because of his age.

51-year-old Anthony McHugh, who worked at the Disney Cruise Line office in Celebration, said he was repeatedly passed over for promotions in favor of younger women, according to a federal lawsuit.

McHugh claims she referred to him as a “stuffy old fart.” He also said his female manager would tell him about her sexual exploits with married fellow employees.

Disney released a statement Thursday afternoon saying the claims in the lawsuit are without merit and they will address them in court.

Travelers will delight in the Southern charm of this new home port, and Disney fans will find magic around every corner as they recognize the iconic sights and sounds that inspired the beloved animated film “The Princess and the Frog.”

The Disney Wonder will embark on six cruises during this limited-time season from New Orleans, including four-, six- and seven-night Western Caribbean sailings; a seven-night Bahamian cruise; and a 14-night Panama Canal voyage, departing Feb. 7 through March 6.

    Long-Awaited Return to Hawaii

After a five-year hiatus, the Disney Wonder will return to Hawaii in early 2020 for two special cruises: a nine-night voyage to Honolulu from Vancouver, Canada, on April 29, and a 10-night sailing back to Vancouver on May 8.

During these dream vacations, guests will discover the breathtaking beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, including the famous beaches of Waikiki on Oahu; the views from high atop the summit of Haleakala Crater on Maui; the lush tropical gardens and waterfalls of Kauai; and the diverse natural wonders of Hawaii Island.

Popular Itineraries from Puerto Rico and California

The Disney Wonder continues its standout season with returns to popular home ports on both coasts. First, the ship sets sail for the Southern Caribbean during two seven-night voyages departing Jan. 19 and 26 from San Juan, Puerto Rico, followed by a five-night Bahamian cruise. Then beginning on March 20, the ship embarks on seven sailings to Baja and the Mexican Riviera, ranging in length from two to seven nights, from San Diego, California.

    Unforgettable Tropical Getaways from Florida

Disney Cruise Line will have three ships sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Florida in early 2020, and every cruise includes a day of fun in the sun on Disney’s private Bahamian island reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests, Castaway Cay.

  • New Details on Disney Cruise Lines Plans For Second Private Destination in Bahamas

New Details on Disney Cruise Lines Plans For Second Private Destination in Bahamas

Disney Cruise Line’s Plans for a second private port destination in the Bahamas is still moving full steam ahead.

The company met recently with The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation as the company continues to seek support for a proposed development at Lighthouse Point, a 700-acre property in South Eleuthera.

Disney currently has one private island in The Bahamas called Castaway Cay, but it is already used full-time by .Disney’s current fleet and with a new fleet of ships coming in 2021, 2022, and 2023, another private island would a necessity.

In a statement, the BCCEC’s explained that Disney Cruise Line President Jeff Vahle; Vice President of Animals, Science and Environment Mark R. Penning; and Vice President of Public Affairs Kim Prunty all presented at the meeting.

“Disney Cruise Line President Jeff Vahle presented chamber directors with a preliminary overview of the company’s intentions. The meeting included discussions on the project’s design and development, the economic and environmental impact on South Eleuthera, public access and conservation objectives,” according to a statement.

The One Eleuthera Foundation is opposed to the development and wants to see the area turned into a national park. They have been lobbying for the government to not allow any large development to happen at Lighthouse Point and plan to help settlements in South Eleuthera build businesses around the Lighthouse Point attraction.

The BCCEC is still opened minded about the options and plans to engage those on all sides of the argument for and against the development of the property.

“The chamber hopes to engage in further dialogue with Disney as well as other stakeholders and organizations in The Bahamas, in particular on Eleuthera, to learn more about their perspectives regarding Disney’s proposal for Lighthouse Point,” the statement said.
