  • New TRON Coaster Coming to Disney World Reaches Major Milestone

New TRON Coaster Coming to Disney World Reaches Major Milestone

Walt Disney Imagineering has reached a major milestone in the development of the new TRON coaster coming to Walt Disney World Resort.

What they set in place this week is the first of nearly 40 pieces that will create a dramatic “curved wave” canopy, known as the Upload Conduit.

Below you can see an image of the first piece of canopy being installed in what will become an instant iconic attraction and portal to The Grid in Tomorrowland.

Each section is strategically assembled before installation, including alignment of the steel, welding, grinding, some painting and electrical work. It’s an intricate process and something we’ll get to see rise before our eyes over the coming weeks and months.

This canopy will be a massive, awe-inspiring structure flowing organically over you when you race beneath it aboard your Lightcycle, serving as a digital bridge for your transition into The Grid.

As the Lightcycles whiz by, dynamic stripes of lights will follow along the canopy, creating a powerful visual for riders and bystanders alike.

Disney Announces New Halloween Experiences Coming to Disney World This Fall

Disney has shared some new details about some of the fall fun coming September 15 – October 31 to Magic Kingdom Park, and it’s going to be a spooktacular time!

Throughout the day, special Halloween cavalcades will pop up on the parade route and head down Main Street, U.S.A. You could come across Mickey Mouse and his pals, all dressed up for the occasion in Boo-tiful Halloween costumes.

On select days, you may even encounter a cavalcade of Disney Villains – from Gaston and Maleficent to Queen of Hearts and Jafar – creeping down the path, or a nightmarish procession featuring the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington!

As another special treat for the Halloween season, Disney is welcoming back the iconic Dapper Dans back to Magic Kingdom Park, beginning September 20, performing as their undead alter egos The Cadaver Dans. You’ll be enchanted by a cappella performances from the Cadaver Dans when they emerge from their tombs.

The Halloween spirit is also in the air over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where Minnie’s Halloween Dine is set to return to Hollywood & Vine, beginning September 25. A monster feast will be served to your table, and favorite Disney friends will make special appearances in the restaurant. You can wave and snap photos of your hostess, Minnie Mouse, dressed as a happy witch. Goofy is coming as a spooky cowboy, with Mickey Mouse as a funny vampire, and his best pal, Pluto, gets into the act wearing a cute Halloween collar.

In addition, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar will transform into Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar with delightful décor and a limited-time menu of festive favorites.
    • Disney resort hotels will deck their halls for the holidays, including iconic Christmas trees in lobbies and other festive flourishes.

Luxury Disney World Resort will Home-School Your Kids with ‘Schoolcation’ Packages

Flexible school schedules and accessible e-learning mean it’s now easier than ever to take a family vacation when school is in session.

Parents now have the option of enrolling their little virtual learners in a supervised schoolwork session offered at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, held in a quiet, dedicated learning space. After their schoolwork is complete, kids can experience the ultimate “recess.”

With the Resort’s exclusive 5-acre Explorer Island as their playground, kids will have a blast swimming in the Explorer Pool, floating down the lazy river, zooming down the water slides, and enjoying outdoor recreation such as sand volleyball, basketball, foosball, table-tennis, and more.

“This new offering exclusively for our Resort guests will be both helpful to parents, as well as something really fun for kids to experience,” says Thomas Steinhauer, General Manager and Regional Vice President of Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort.  “Many kids have been completing school work in their homes for a while now. A chance to mix up their learning environment, and combine school and playtime at the Resort, is sure to be a welcome treat and create a memory that will last a lifetime.”

    Study Sessions

The supervised schoolwork sessions will be held in small-group classroom settings, physically distanced with no more than six children per class. The spacious event rooms of Four Seasons Resort Orlando are the classroom setting, featuring airy and open rooms with a wall of windows for natural light, and a private terrace for outside break time.  Each student will have a dedicated desk area, physically distanced from the other students, and high-speed premium WiFi will be provided. The schedule is offered as either a half-day from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, or a full day from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with lunch included.

    Schedule

    • 9:00 am to 12:00 noon: Supervised virtual learning, snack break included (half-day participants depart at noon)
    • Lunch break: Students opting for a full day will order lunch off a set menu and the lunch will be delivered at the student’s scheduled lunch break time
    • 1:00 to 2:00 pm: Optional enrichment period for those with flexible schedules including Arts and Crafts and Physical Education
    • 3:00 pm: Parents pick up their child(ren)

The supervised study sessions are available Monday through Friday beginning September 14, 2020, for school-aged children for $50 per child for a half-day session or $100 per child for the full session including lunch. Due to capacity limitations, reservations must be confirmed at least 48 hours in advance. Attendees must be registered overnight guests of the Resort.

The team overseeing the study sessions are exceptionally trained Kids For All Seasons staff, who have years of experience in working with children.  “Our kids’ club team members have enthusiastic, delightful personalities,” says Sarah Peltier, Director of Recreation. “They are looking forward to supporting the students while they engage in their virtual learning, and bringing fun and creativity to the afternoon enrichment session.”

    A Break for Parents

While kids are e-learning, parents can relish in free time to themselves to relax by the Resort’s exclusive adult-only Oasis Pool.
