Magic Kingdom Closed After Reaching Capacity with New Years Eve Crowds

New Years Eve is one of the busiest days of the year at Magic Kingdom. And as expected the park has temporarily closed after reaching capacity as crowds descend on the most magical place on earth to ring in 2020.

Magic Kingdom is currently at a Phase B capacity closure as of 1pm which affects guests with one day tickets.

“Magic Kingdom Park is not admitting new Guests at this time,”Walt Disney World Guest Service said as you can see in the tweet below:

Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom all remained open to additional guests and those are always a great place to ring in the new year also, but they can reach capacity as well so you might want to get there quickly before they fill up too.

For details on closures, check out our complete list and breakdown of Walt Disney World’s Capacity Closing Procedures.

  • Pull Down Bed Falls On Guest at Disney’s Riviera Resort Grand Opening

Pull Down Bed Falls On Guest at Disney’s Riviera Resort Grand Opening

One family staying at the newly opened Disney’s Riviera Resort received a rude awakening when the pull down “murphy” bed collapsed on a guest while they were sleeping.

Hayley Ashby, her sister and her mother were staying at the new resort when the incident happened. “Me and my sister had to struggle to lift up the bed to have her be able to roll out from underneath the bed,” Ashby said. “Luckily, only a few bumps & scrapes, but we are definitely shaken up.”

Ashby and her sister had to struggle to lift up the bed off of their mother so that the woman could roll out from underneath it. As you can see in the picture below that Ashby shared on Facebook, it seems like it was no easy task:

Managers at Disney’s Riviera Resort, then went from room to room posting a note on trundle beds instructing guests not to use them.

    The warning reads:

“We apologize for the inconvenience. This trundle bed is out of order and for your safety, it cannot be used at this time.

We want to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. If you have planned to use this bed, please contact the Front Desk so alternative arrangements can be provided.”

Ashby has said that Disney Riviera was very accommodating and gave them a new upgraded room. Her mother was still in neck & back pain and plans to follow up with a doctor.
