OFFICIAL: Replacement Announced For ‘Move It! Shake It! Dance And Play It! Street Party’ at Magic Kingdom

Some changes are taking place on Main Street U.S.A. in Walt Disney World. The daytime celebration known as “Move It! Shake It! Dance And Play It! Street Party” is coming to an end next year.

Disney announced Thursday, that “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” will replace the celebration and will debut in the Magic Kingdom on January 18 2019.

Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party

The new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” at Magic Kingdom Park will invite guests to dance with Mickey, Minnie and their pals in front of Cinderella Castle. Shake it along with live singers belting out new arrangements of classic “Mickey Mouse Club” songs.

“Move It! Shake It! Dance And Play It! Street Party” debuted on October 24, 2014 and is an updated version of the “Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It!” Street Party which made its official debut in February 2009.

The current version of thee parade is 35 minutes long, but it isn’t really a parade at all.  The floats all stop in a circle around the hub and continue with lots of songs and dancing to get the crowd pumped up and let you sing and dance along with a grouping of some of your favorite characters.  After the party is over, the floats go back down Main Street, U.S.A. the same way they came in.

“Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It!” is expected to have its final show on December 1, 2018.

  • Tips For Dining at Disney Parks with Celiacs Disease

Tips For Dining at Disney Parks with Celiacs Disease

If you have Celiacs Disease, then you know going on vacation can be stressful having to plan around where and what you can eat. What you may not know is that Walt Disney World Resort is committed to offering a wide range of culinary and dietary options for all its Guests.

Many Disney restaurants now offer allergy-friendly menus to address various food intolerances including Celiacs, offering many gluten-free options — often with no advance arrangements!

In 2017 I was diagnosed with Celiac, I thought for sure my food adventure at Disney was coming to an end.

The first time I went to Disney after my diagnoses I was greeted by a very knowledgeable server at Cape May Café who knew exactly what accommodations needed to be made to allow to me enjoy a worry free meal.  He walked me through the menu and then brought the chef out to chat with me about substitutions (what were the options?).  This type of service encouraged me to write about conquering Disney with Celiac.

Some of my favorite gluten-free treats at Disney are the Mickey waffles (Found at quick service and table service restaurants), gluten-free beignets (found at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter) and the gluten-free Churro (found at the Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom)

With any allergy there are a few tricks you need to know before you go.  If you have an allergy at this time you cannot pre-order your meal on My Disney Experience. If you are an adult sharing a plate with a child under 3 and that child has a food allergy, you will need to order your food to the child’s needs, without the allergen. Disney is extremely careful about cross contamination, so they will not serve a gluten-free waffle next to gluten containing items.  When dining at a quick service location, I would suggest that you send one adult ahead of the party so they can start the order for the person with the food allergy.  It takes additional time to prep and cook an allergen free meal, so keep this in mind while you are making FastPass+ reservations well.  Your dining experience will be extended by at least 10 minutes in my experience.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, the food and beverage cast members take a course on food allergy safety.  If all else fails they have a great big ol’ book of cheat sheets!  A chef will greet you at your table and either escort you through the buffet or guide you through the menu, even at the resort food courts that will walk you through the options and explain the process of food substitutions.

When a guest with food allergies makes a reservation through Enchanted Kingdom Vacations a note is added to your file notating the allergy. Then your allergy is noted on each dining reservation your knowledgeable agent books for you. This makes sure your vacation is just as delightful and delicious as the rest of your family (how?).   There are even allergy free cleaning products that will be used for your resort room during your stay! Even the H2O bath products are soy and gluten-free (yes, gluten is a common ingredient in shampoo).

Contact me today to set up your next magical vacation! When Dining at Disney you are in extremely safe and knowledgeable hands!

  • Today in Disney History: September 11, 2001 – Disney Parks Close

Today in Disney History: September 11, 2001 – Disney Parks Close

On September 11, 2001, at 8:45 a.m., the world changed forever when four hijacked planes were used to attack The United States. On this day we remember the thousands who died in the terror attacks as well as the heroic actions of the first responders who risked their lives to save others.

As news of the horrific attacks spread across the world Disney officials took action. At Walt Disney World an announcement was made over the public address system:” … Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Magic Kingdom is now closed. Please follow the direction of the nearest Cast Member.” It took less than 30 minutes to evacuate thousands of guests from the theme parks.

At Disney World, Cast Members in all 4 parks are instructed to hold hands and form a human wall and gently (without touching guests) walk towards the hub of each park and eventually towards the exit. This calmly forced all guests out of the parks. Security followed each human wall to make sure no one gets past.

    Disney September 11

Almost instantly the government moved to secure the airspace over this potential terrorism target. Gunships flew above the park armed with military personnel, ready to defend if necessary.

“In an abundance of caution, Walt Disney World resort has made the decision to close its theme parks, water parks, shopping, entertainment and recreation complexes,” a Disney statement said.

The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida closed without incident. Disneyland Resort, which had not yet opened when the attacks occurred and thus was able to remain closed for the day.

    Disney September 11

All the resort hotels remained open and provided accommodations to guests who are unable to leave. Phone charges were suspended so that guests could reach family. The closures marked only the second time Disneyland had locked its gates in its 56-year history due to a national tragedy. The first time followed the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963. Walt Disney World had previously only closed for Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

Michael Eisner released a statement to Cast Members explaining the Disney closings. “Finally let me say our company around the world will continue to operate in this sometimes violent world in which we live, offering products that reach to the higher and more positive side of the human equation.” the statement read.

Like hundreds of other families around the world, Disney also lost one of its own when John Beug, a former vice president at Walt Disney Records, lost his life as a passenger on the plane that struck 1 World Trade Center.

Each year, to commemorate Patriot’s Day, a special Flag Retreat ceremony is held on Main Street. 2,983 people were killed in the horrific attacks as well as hundreds more who risked their lives to save others and all who demonstrated extraordinary compassion in the aftermath of the attacks and we will never forget!

  • New Jersey Man Arrested For Telling Disney Greeters Al-Qaida Sent Him ‘to blow the place up’

New Jersey Man Arrested For Telling Disney Greeters Al-Qaida Sent Him ‘to blow the place up’

A New Jersey man was arrested Tuesday after the tourist told greeters at Disney World that al-Qaida sent him to “blow the place up.” according to investigators.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 56-year-old Gregory Lazarchick on Tuesday on a charge of making a false bomb threat.

Lazarchick made the threat at Saratoga Springs Resort as employees were asking guests about their day, and then told them he wasn’t joking, an arrest report says.

Deputies said that, on July 21, a greeter at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa told Gregory Lazarchick, “Have a great day,” to which he replied, “I don’t want to have a great day.”

After making the threat, Lazarchick turned around while walking away and told the greeter, “You think I am joking? I’m not,” the arrest report said.

Lazarchick later admitted to saying something about al-Qaida when deputies spoke to him, but he said he didn’t remember exactly what he said. He was remorseful and apologetic. No bomb-making materials were found in his room.

Lazarchick’s sister told investigators he suffered a head injury and sometimes says inappropriate things.
