  • Disney Water Parks Closed Due to Freezing Temperature

Disney Water Parks Closed Due to Freezing Temperature

The cold never bothered us anyway! Okay so it actually does because temperatures are low enough that Disney has Closed Typhoon Lagoon.

Cold weather is sweeping through Florida and bringing a chance of snow early Wednesday ahead of freezing rain north of Gainesville.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon has been closed since Monday and also briefly closed last month due to cold weather.

Blizzard Beach is already closed until January 6th for renovations, but the cold snap surely would have surely closed anyway.

All other Walt Disney World Theme Parks remain are open for business.

Typhoon Lagoon will be closed through Thursday, but that could change. Disney officials said they would evaluate later in the week if a longer closure would be needed.

  • Disney World Resort Pools Close Due to Cold Weather

Disney World Resort Pools Close Due to Cold Weather

Baby it’s cold outside. So cold in fact that Walt Disney World Resorts have closed their pools today due to the un-florida like temperatures.

A massive cold snap that is covering much of the country and even Florida is feeling the effects. The lows on Wednesday to Friday will be around freezing (32F) and with the wind chill it will feel like it’s in the upper 20’s later in the week. Not until Sunday will there be a high into the 60s. Orlando hasn’t reached temperatures since January 2014. So it’s possible the they may close remain closed for a few days.

If you need to warm up after a nice freezing day at the parks, the Hot Tubs will still be open at resorts that have them from 10am to 8pm.

  • Five Facts We Know About Toy Story Land

Five Facts We Know About Toy Story Land

It’s 2018 and quite possibly the best thing about this year is the long-awaited grand opening of Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In this new land guests will shrink to the size of a toy so they are able to explore Andy’s backyard, which is filled with toys from the “Toy Story” films.

Here are five things we know about Toy Story Land so far.

    Toy Story Land

    1. You Can View The Toy Story Land Model Now At Walt Disney Presents – Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can view the Toy Story Land model in person at the Walt Disney Presents exhibit. The full model is on display, as well as ride vehicle maquettes for both Alien Swirling Saucers and Slinky Dog Dash.

    Toy Story Land

    2. Slinky Dog Dash Looks Sweet! – This a family coaster themed as if Andy built it in his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit and some of his other favorite toys. The attraction’s adorable ride vehicles were inspired by Slinky from the film and will send guests dipping, dodging and dashing around Toy Story Land.

    Toy Story Land

    3. Toy Story Friends Like Rex, Jessie, Sarge & Others Can Be Spotted In The Land – Late last year, Rex and Jessie were installed as a part of the Slinky Dog Dash attraction. A peek at the rendering of Woody’s Lunchbox hints at even more characters that will soon be added, like Sarge.

    Toy Story Land

    4. Guests Will Dine At Woody’s Lunchbox – Andy has used his lunch box and thermos to create a walk-up quick-service window that will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats. In the rendering above, you can see that Woody’s Lunch Box is surrounded by some of Andy’s favorite toys and lunch items. Stay tuned to the blog in the coming months for specific menu details.

    5. It Opens This Summer At Disney’s Hollywood Studios! – We don’t have an exact opening date yet, but be sure we’ll post it as soon as we know.

  • Bluetooth Allows Guests To Open Room Without Tapping MagicBand

Bluetooth Allows Guests To Open Room Without Tapping MagicBand

Wouldn’t it be great if you could open your Walt Disney World Resort room door without having to tap your MagicBand. That just might be a reality with Disney adding bluetooth functionality to MagicBands.

Rumors popped up all over the internet Tuesday about Disney adding Bluetooth functionality to MagicBands and that means no more ‘Mickey to Mickey’ as the cast members say. It also means no spinning that MagicBand around on your wrist trying to get the MagicBand in the right spot to tap and when you have bags full of merchandise in hands.

First Disney introduced MagicBands with RF technology that allowed keyless entry which made things easier, but now they are adding another technology to MagicBands to make it even easier to get in your room. And if the rumours are true that’s Bluetooth Technology, which should allow guest to open their resort room door just by being near it.  Disney is always looking to expand ways to use new technology to create new and amazing Guest experiences and enhanced Guest service.

Reports say that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be the first to test out the new Bluetooth functionality.  This would mean that guests wouldn’t have to actually touch their MagicBand to the door at these resorts and they would be able to open the door with their MagicBand just by being near it.

The bluetooth tech has technically always been in the MagicBands, but this would be the first time they have made use of it and the possibilities are limitless. No word yet as to if park entry, FastPass+, Dining Plan, etc. will start use the technology as well, but that would be the next logical step.  There is no official word on this from Disney yet, so we will have to wait and see.
