Construction on Disney’s new Skyliner gondola system is moving along rapidly and today the first gondola cable cars were were spotted being installed today Walt Disney World.

We got a glimpse of the gondolas making their way onto Disney property back in June and now we are getting a look at exactly what these will look like while hanging on the line.

As you can see in the photos below the gondolas are being added to the line at the International Gateway Disney Skyliner station at Epcot.

When it’s finished, the transportation system will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot.

  • Retired Animatronic’s Clothing Stolen From Backstage Area at Disney World

Retired Animatronic’s Clothing Stolen From Backstage Area at Disney World

The Happiest Place on Earth isn’t so happy after The Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced they’re investigating the theft of clothing that belonged to a retired animatronic character at Walt Disney World.

The stolen items belong to “Buzzy”, who was part of the now-closed Wonders of Life pavilion attraction Cranium Command at Epcot.

Cranium Command offered a fun look at how “the lean, mean thinking machine,” the human brain, worked. Guests first watched a video in which a rookie recruit, Buzzy, was assigned to take the controls of a 12-year-old boy’s brain. They then entered a theater to join Buzzy inside the boy’s head and saw firsthand how the boy’s brain reacted when different things happened throughout his day.

According to officials, someone snuck into a backstage area that’s not open to the public and took a red jacket, green cap and rubber molded hands.

An incident report lists the items’ value at $600, but it wasn’t known what a black-market collector might pay for parts of a Disney attraction.

The sheriff’s office says they’ve interviewed a suspect. The man was charged with resisting arrest after refusing to hand over his phone, but no charges have been filed in the theft.

  • Remembering President George H.W. Bush Through Disney History

Remembering President George H.W. Bush Through Disney History

President George Herbert Walker Bush died Friday at the age of 94. Disney has always honored presidential history and like so many presidents before and after him, he made appearances at Disney Parks.

In September 1988, President George H.W. Bush joined Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley and California Gov. George Deukmejian during a special Olympic Salute event at Disneyland.

Still serving as Vice President, he was there bidding good luck to the Seoul-bound U.S. Olympic team where he and his wife Barbra Bush marched in the theme park’s parade with Mickey and Minnie.

    George Bush Disneyland

President George H.W. Bush also visited Epcot, where he presided over the first gathering of his Daily Points of Light award recipients—outstanding community volunteers from across the nation—at the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot on September 30, 1991 (pictured below).

    George Bush Epcot

The event was part of the huge 20th-anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World Resort. (Later, Bush’s son, President George W. Bush, would honor The Walt Disney Company itself as a Daily Point of Light in 2004.)

Born into a tradition of service, Bush was a son of a senator, celebrated World War II combat pilot, student athlete, Texas oilman, Republican congressman, national party chairman, pioneering diplomat and the director of the CIA. After his own 1980 presidential campaign came up short, he served two terms as Ronald Reagan’s vice president before reaching the highest office by winning the 1988 presidential election, soundly defeating Democrat Michael Dukakis.

George H.W. Bush is forever immortalized in The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.  He was added after he entered office in 1989.

  • Disney Reveals Details on New Nighttime Spectaculars Replacing IllumiNations at Epcot

Disney Reveals Details on New Nighttime Spectaculars Replacing IllumiNations at Epcot

As we previously reported, Disney is ending the nearly 20 year run of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth as Epcot’s nighttime spectacular and the question is, what will be replacing it?

Earlier this month at D23’s Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek shared an exciting update on the multiyear transformation of Epcot, including details on new nighttime entertainment planned for the park and additions to World Showcase.

Among the announcements were updates on a new nighttime spectacular planned to open at the park in 2020. This new show will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world, and will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.

    Epcot Nighttime Spectaculars

But before that new show debuts, there will be a limited-time experience Epcot fans will love, called “Epcot Forever,” which will debut in fall 2019 and will feature classic Epcot tunes. “Epcot Forever” will begin with a spark of imagination that swells into an epic spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers, and special effects kites.

  • Flaming Firework Lands in Crowd in Epcot at Disney World

Flaming Firework Lands in Crowd in Epcot at Disney World

A firework that was launched during Epcot’s IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth landed near a crowd of people Monday night.

Guests were quick to post videos of the incident with one of them saying, “It’s always a grand ole time when the fireworks launch into the crowd at Epcot”.

Another video captured it from a different angle.

The incident reportedly happened during the special holiday finale of the nightly fireworks show.

It’s unclear what caused the firework to end up near the crowd and there were no reports of injury.

IllumiNations is set to end its nearly 20-year run next summer. A replacement show is currently in the works.

  • Woman Arrested After Dragging a Child By Harness in Disney World

Woman Arrested After Dragging a Child By Harness in Disney World

A woman was arrested at Epcot in Walt Disney World after witnesses saw her dragging a child by a harness in an Epcot bathroom, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

A 911 call was received Tuesday night about a woman who was yelling and dragging a child by a harness he or she was wearing, according to deputies. The woman was later identified as 34-year-old Sara Villar.

As a result of being dragged, the child hit his or her head on the bathroom floor, according to authorities.

When deputies confronted Villar, she refused to give her name. She became angry and turned a stroller “in an aggressive manner”, which caused a child to fall out of the stroller, the report states.

Deputies tried to get Villar to calm down and identify herself, but she refused.  She was then escorted to a patrol vehicle where she began to hit her head on the hood and dent it, according to authorities.
