    Disney and Gucci Release New Mickey Mouse-Themed Collection for 2020 Lunar New Year

    The Year of the Rat begins a new cycle in the 12-year Chinese Zodiac Calendar and to celebrate the 2020 Lunar New Year, Gucci has teamed up with Disney to release a collection that features the most famous mouse of them all!

    The luxury Italian label turned to Mickey Mouse, for a limited-edition collection of ready-to-wear items.

    As every nostalgic fashionista would hope, Gucci x Disney has Mickey and Minnie-adorned versions of all the brand’s most sought after pieces, including the Marmont handbag, classic logo tee, fluffy loafers and more. Take a look below at a few of the collection items:

    One of the key points about the collection is that Gucci’s introduced a brand new material: the Mini GG Supreme canvas with Mickey Mouse print. The new beige design is inspired by the fashion house’s ’80s fabrics, which gives the collection a cool vintage feel.

    Gucci and Mickey Mouse have teamed up in the past, as well. For the cartoon character’s 90th birthday in 2018, Gucci unveiled a 3D Mickey Mouse Top Handle Bag ($4,500) on the Spring-Summer 2019 Runway.

    New Mickey Mouse Meet & Greet Coming to Epcot

    A multi-year transformation of Epcot is underway that will reimagine the park while keeping true to the original vision and with it comes new places to meet and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse himself!

    Mickey will soon be making appearances in a new location at the Imagination! pavilion, as part of the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival. Just inside the entrance, you’ll discover Mickey greeting his fans and celebrating his on-screen stardom.

    Formerly Mickey and pals could be found at Meet Disney Pals at the Epcot Character Spot which closed back in July as part of the massive multi-year overhaul.

    Mickey’s imagination has led to a career in the movies for 90 years and counting, featuring roles in dozens of short films such as “Get A Horse” which you can enjoy as part of the festival. Look for Mickey to arrive at the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival in early 2020!

    The sunglasses will be available at select Disney Parks retail locations, beginning November 1, before launching to Sunglass Hut loyalty members and the general public.

    Disney Bedtime Hotline Returns for a Limited Time

    Oh boy! Do you want to help you add a touch of Disney magic to your kid’s bedtime routine? Disney has announced the return of the Disney Bedtime Hotline, where fans can call to hear special messages from their favorite characters at bedtime.

    From now until Sept. 30, your child can call up the “Disney Bedtime Hotline” and hear a special goodnight message from seven beloved Disney characters: Mickey Mouse, Woody, Jasmine, Anna and Elsa, Yoda and Spider-man.

    The number is toll-free (1-877-7-MICKEY) and is only available inside the United States. Just punch in the appropriate number to hear a bedtime message from your favorite Disney character: 1 = Mickey; 2 = Woody ; 3 = Princess Jasmine; 4 = Princess Anna and Queen Elsa; 5 = Yoda and 6 = Spider-Man

    In 2018, the Sleep Shop Hotline contained five special messages from Mickey Mouse and friends Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck.

    This year marks the second year in a row that Disney is launching this hotline, all in hopes to help parents put their children to bed. Most parents say putting their kids to bed can be stressful, with 77 percent saying they are exhausted with the process, according to a study highlighted in a Disney press release. 

    The company hopes these character messages will “give kids something to look forward to at bedtime,” the release says.

    First Mickey Mouse-Themed Ride-Attraction Coming to Disneyland in 2022

    Oh boy! Friday, Disney announced that the first major Mickey Mouse-themed ride-through attraction, called Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, is coming to Disneyland park.

    Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, also planned to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort in spring 2020 is coming to Mickey’s Toontown in 2022!

    On this new attraction, guests step through the movie screen and join Mickey and friends on a railway adventure as they take part in the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short.

    Once you step into the cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, you’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. Then, one magical moment after the next leads you to a zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns.

    As you can see below, Disneyland Resort President Josh D’Amaro shared a fun photo of him getting a sneak peek of the plans!

    With an original story and lovable theme song, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway uses state-of-the-art technologies and dazzling visual effects to transform the cartoon world into an incredible and immersive multi-dimensional experience.

    Mickey already turned 90, but Disney Parks is celebrating all year long and even the merchandise at Epcot celebrates the mouse. A Mickey Mouse shaped, Spaceship Earth inspired sipper has made its way to Disney Parks.

    Mickey already has a sipper of his own, but this Epcot themed sipper also pays homage to everyone’s favorite pal as well as the classic Epcot attraction.

    The sipper retails for $16.99 and can be found in Mouse Gear at Epcot in Walt Disney World.

    Steamboat Willie Mickey Mouse LEGO Ideas Set Coming Soon

    The results of the second LEGO Ideas 2018 review round have been revealed and a Steamboat Willie design is among the winners chosen to be released as an official LEGO set.

    This nostalgic design celebrates over 90 years of Disney’s Iconic True Original Mickey Mouse and of the ten product ideas that qualified, Steamboat Willie by Máté “szabomate90” Szabó was one of the designs that made it through.

    If you aren’t familiar with LEGO Ideas, it’s a program that lets fans of the building blocks pitch their own design to the company. A model needs to be created, photographed, and submitted—alongside a convincing proposal as to why the set should become an official LEGO product.

    This proposal is inspired by the beloved Mickey short of the same name and the creator of this set argued a convincing case as you can see below:

    “Steamboat Willie is the first fully synchronized sound cartoon directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. It was the debut of Mickey Mouse in a cartoon, the first to be distributed and the third to be produced,” he says. “So as an animator and a LEGO fan I’d like to pay my respect to that marvelous production, which…inspired a lot of talented artists.”


    This set, which will include 156 bricks, received the required 10,000 votes and earned the chance to be reviewed by the company and it will now be an approved new LEGO set.

    Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration Coming Soon to the Disneyland

    The Disneyland Resort is introducing an all-new, must-see pop-up experience at the Downtown Disney District. Coming this spring, Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration will commemorate the one and only Mickey Mouse!

    The attraction will transport you through a visually and whimsically immersive experience celebrating 90 years your old pal Mickey Mouse and of course his darling Minnie Mouse.

    This limited-time exhibition will feature several different imaginatively themed rooms with vivid displays inspired by all things Mickey Mouse. Every room will feature selfie-worthy surprises and provide plenty of fun and fabulous photo ops for all your family and friends. Take a look below at some of the amazing concept art:

    One such surprise will be a super-sized and super sweet bow sofa. In this area, you can pop into the portrait and take a seat on Minnie’s plush sofa or pose under Minnie’s giant bows and hearts. Don’t forget to blow a kiss!

    This separately ticketed exhibit will be located near the Downtown Disney District Monorail station in the former space of ESPN Zone. Tickets will go on sale soon. Keep your ears perked to the Disney Parks Blog for more details!
