First Look: ‘Moana’ Inspired Re-Themed Rooms at Polynesian Resort in Disney World

As we previously reported, Reimagining is underway at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Disney World Resort! And now these new photos released by Disney take you inside a newly reimagined guest room at the resort.

These reimagined spaces feature a new color palette inspired by the Pacific Ocean and its many islands, including details, patterns and textures from the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Moana” – look closely and you might even spot some characters from the story!

You’ll also see all-new furnishings and fixtures. In the bathrooms, for instance, Disney Imagineers took inspiration from the sandy ocean floor for the tiles and carved details in the vanity. The colorful patterns found throughout the room bring a whole new energy to the space, evoking undulating ocean waves and tropical flowers. Take a closer look below:

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is now accepting bookings for late July 2021, and the next time guests pull up to the Great Ceremonial House, they’ll notice even more exciting changes we’re currently working on. The porte cochere is in the midst of a dramatic overhaul that will feature a high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in a thatch style with pops of color. Above the porte cochere, the Monorail station is receiving new wooden screens with tropical colors, adding to the open and airy vibe befitting of the South Seas.

This popular locale joins the other Disney Resort hotels of Walt Disney World in creating the Disney Resorts Collection, where the magic found in the theme parks extends to every moment of a guest’s vacation. Disney Resort hotels offer a wide selection of fantastic settings to choose from, inspired by worlds both real and imagined. Guests are fully immersed in our legendary storytelling and guest service that extend beyond our theme parks to every moment of a stay, whether visiting an African savanna, strolling a seaside boardwalk, seeing a favorite Disney character or so much more – there’s magic seemingly around every corner.

We’ll have more to share about the developments happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in the weeks and months to come. This exciting progress is part of the overall evolution of our Disney Resort hotels, as they infuse even more Disney touches across their collection – just in time for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” beginning Oct. 1, 2021, in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

During Disney’s Investor Day event, the studio confirmed that the 2016 animated hit film Moana is getting a sequel series on Disney+.

Moana brought to the screen the story of a 16-year-old strong-willed daughter of Polynesian village chief, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets sail in search of Maui, a legendary demigod, in the hope of returning the relic to Te Fiti and saving her people.

The Moana series was announced with a number of other animated series in development for the streaming platform, including the Big Hero 6 spinoff Baymax!Tiana, and Zootopia+ as you can see in the post below:

The Moana animated series will reportedly follow the titular spirited voyagers as she once again ventures beyond the safety of her Polynesian island home of Motunui, and will see Walt Disney Animation bringing in storytellers from Moana’s home region of the Pacific Islands in order to faithfully continue to tell authentic stories of wayfinding and other traditions brought to life for generations through oral storytelling.

The movie was a huge success for Disney, receiving two nominations at the 89th Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature, and Best Original Song for the inspirational “How Far I’ll Go”. Moana went on to gross $690 million at the box office on its estimated $175 million budget.

The Moana sequel is set to come to Disney+ sometime in 2023.

  • Woman Orders ‘Moana’ Cake for Her Daughter but Baker Hears ‘Marijuana’

Woman Orders ‘Moana’ Cake for Her Daughter but Baker Hears ‘Marijuana’

The stakes are “high” in the cake making business. A Georgia woman tried to order a “Moana”-themed cake for her daughter’s 25th birthday, but the local cake maker mistakenly heard “marijuana” instead.

The green-and-white decorated cake Davis received included a “My Little Pony” horse with blood-shot eyes and a puff of smoke next to her, as well as a cannabis leaf tattooed on her haunch. There was also a larger cannabis leaf on the cake. Both photos were outlined in icing and sandwiched between “Happy 25th Birthday Kensli.”

Kensli Davis took to social media and was rather blunt about the twist to her special day. Davis found the situation humourous and the cake was still the “High” light of the party as you can see in her post below:

Kensli Davis’ mom said workers apologized and offered to make another cake, but she stuck with the first one because it was just too funny.

Cassandra Walker, the Georgia mother of two who made the cake, isn’t laughing. She told USA TODAY she made the cake after her manager, who she says she misheard Davis’ mother, told her it was OK.

Walker said Dairy Queen fired her for the mistake on Monday, which was her birthday.
