    Every Live-Action Remake Disney Is Currently Working On

    Disney’s Live-Action Remake Machine is in high gear! The studios has already turned out several successful remakes of their animated films, including Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Maleficent, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book and Christopher Robin and it doesn’t look like they are stopping anytime soon.

    Disney’s proved winning model of remaking its animated hits already has several films in the can and is reportedly working on many more. We’ve put together a list of every Live-Action Remake Disney is currently working on or rumored to be in production.

    THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

    The Hunchback of Notre Dame

    Tony-winning playwright David Henry Hwang is reportedly writing the movie, and Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz are said to be doing the music. Josh Gad is also reportedly producing the film.

    MULAN

    Live Action Mulan

    Don’t mess with Liu Yifei! The actress is bringing back the 1998 film’s classic character and starring in the new version of Mulan. The film hits theaters in March 2020.

    THE LION KING

    Lion King live-action

    This movie, which roars into theaters next summer, features a star-studded cast, including Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key, James Earl Jones, Billy Eichner and John Oliver.

    ALADDIN

    Your wish has been granted! The movie—which stars Will Smith, Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud—offers a fresh, new take on the 1992 favorite. Fans will get to see this whole new world starting in May.

    DUMBO

    The flying elephant is back! The Tim Burton remake soars into theaters this March.

    LADY AND THE TRAMP

    Lady and the Tramp

    Justin Theroux and Tessa Thompson star as everyone’s favorite doggy duo in this remake of the 1955 movie. The film is set to debut on Disney’s streaming service; although, the exact release date has yet to be revealed.

    LILO & STITCH

    Experiment 626 is beaming back into your universe. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are reportedly producing the film, which is set to debut in 2019.

    PINOCCHIO

    Pinocchio With Blue Fairy

    The live-action remake reportedly has a star-studded cast—and that’s no lie. In November, reports that Tom Hanks is set to play the famous puppet’s father, Geppetto surfaced.

    PETER PAN

    You won’t need faith, trust or pixie dust to see this remake. In 2016, The Hollywood Reporter claimed David Lowery is working on a new version of the 1953 classic. While a live-action film has yet to fly into theaters, fans can always watch other versions, like Hook, in the meantime.

    SNOW WHITE

    In 2016, The Hollywood Reporter claimed The Girl on the Train’s Erin Cressida wwas in negotiations to make a live-action remake of Snow White. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul—from La La Land—were also allegedly set to work on the music. However, a film has yet to be released. So, we’ll just have to see if it will be the fairest of them all.

    THE SWORD IN THE STONE

    Sword in the Stone

    Last year, news broke that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo would direct the remake about a young King Arthur and his magical mentor Merlin. Game of Thrones‘ Bryan Cogman was also reported to be working on the script.

    THE LITTLE MERMAID

    Want a live-action remake of The Little Mermaid to be a part of your world? You may be in luck. Film composer Alan Menken previously announced a new rendition of the 1989 movie was in the works, and that Lin-Manuel Miranda was also working on the music.

    CRUELLA

    One of Disney’s famous villains is back. While Glenn Close played Cruella de Vil in the 1996 live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians, Emma Stone is reportedly set to take on the role in Cruella.

    These films are all either in production or rumored to be in early stages of development.     ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ is Disney’s Latest Live-Action Remake

    Disney has been turning out live-action remakes like a machine and now it looks like the next movie to get the live-action treatment is Disney’s 1996 animated classic “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.”

    While no casting news has been officially announced, it is rumored that co-producer Josh Gad—who played Lefou in the “Beauty and the Beast” remake—will play the titular hunchback.

    Disney announced on Wednesday that Tony award winning playwright David Henry Hwang has been set by Disney to write Hunchback, a live-action musical adaptation of the Victor Hugo novel. Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz will write the music. Mandeville is producing along with Gad.

    Mandeville founder David Hoberman, had tried to bring The Hunchback of Notre Dame to Hollywood for over 30 years, starting when he was Disney film president, According to Deadline.

    The project would follow Disney’s proved winning model of remaking its animated hits, but “Hunchback” is not currently a priority for the studio, which is gearing up for the release of “Aladdin,” “The Lion King,” “Dumbo” and has “Lady and the Tramp” and “Mulan” lined up.

    New Minnie Mouse Rock the Dots Merchandise has arrived at Walt Disney World and it is too cute! Whether you like the classic dots or colorful dots, the new “Rock the Dots” collection will certainly grab your attention and with National Polka Day coming up on January 22nd, you’ll definitely want to be rocking the dots.

    We were able to get a few pictures of the items released and we just had to share! They are so playful and fun that I can’t decide which I like best. Take a look below at some of these fabulous items.

    Tim Tebow Celebrates His Engagement at Walt Disney World

    Walt Disney World Resort has always been a place where couples go to celebrate their love so it’s no wonder that Tim Tebow made it his first stop after announcing his engagement to Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters Thursday.

    With friends and family along for the ride on Friday, Tebow, a professional athlete and sports analyst, and Nel-Peters took flight on Dumbo at Magic Kingdom Park and stopped in front of Cinderella Castle to meet another pair of lovebirds, Cinderella and Prince Charming.

    “It’s special being able to celebrate here at Walt Disney World with her family and my family,” Tebow said. “Every day with her is more than I could have ever wished for.”

    It was the first visit to Walt Disney World for Nel-Peters, a native of South Africa.

    Figment Annual Passholder Magnet Coming to Epcot Festival of the Arts

    Annual Passholder’s love their magnets and recently Disney has been offering a variety of magnets with various characters on them. Today, Disney is giving us a first look at the new Figment Annual Passholder magnet coming to the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

    The festival takes place Jan. 18 through Feb. 25 and on your first visit to the festival, receive a complimentary Passholder magnet that will feature Figment for the first time. Just stop into Mouse Gear or Port of Entry and show your valid annual pass card and photo ID.

    Passholders can complete their “Figment” look by receiving a 20% Passholder discount on a Festival of the Arts MagicBand, which will feature the playful, purple dragon, plus a Figment spirit jersey, T-shirt, ornament and more. They can also pick up Passholder-exclusive festival merchandise that will include a t-shirt and coaster set featuring Mickey Mouse, a pin featuring Pluto – and an exclusive Figment cookie available for purchase at Taste Track from Jan. 18 through Jan. 26.

    Passholders can also enjoy a 10% discount for dining packages for the Disney on Broadway Concert Series throughout the festival, and a special 20% discount on dining packages at Biergarten Restaurant and Coral Reef Restaurant for lunch and dinner through Jan. 31. The Disney on Broadway Concert Series returns this year with live performances seven nights a week and features six new performers!

    New ‘IllumiNations’ Farewell Dining Package Coming to Epcot

    As we previously reported, Epcot’s nighttime spectacular “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will be ending next year. To commemorate the occasion Disney is bringing a new ‘IllumiNations’ dining package is coming to Epcot.

    The IllumiNations Dining Package is $85 per adult (ages 10 and up) and $35 per child (ages 3 to 9), tax and gratuity included. Separate Epcot admission is also required.

    You’ll dine on fine cuisine, seated at a lagoon-side patio, and enjoy specially-reserved viewing for the farewell season of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.” Beginning Jan. 18, 2019.

    With the “IllumiNations” Dining Package, you can sit back and relax on the patio of the Rose & Crown Dining Room, located in the United Kingdom Pavilion, while dining on classic British fare and enjoying sweeping views of World Showcase Lagoon. The Rose & Crown patio offers a unique view of the nighttime spectacular – while it’s true that there are fantastic views of “IllumiNations” from all around World Showcase Lagoon, this location offers a unique perspective that is perfect for a romantic night out or a delicious end-of-the-day finale with family and friends. The package includes a prix fixe menu that features a selection of Rose & Crown favorites, as well as unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    You’ll start your meal off with a Scotch Egg or the United Kingdom Cheese Platter, and follow up with popular entrées such as Rose & Crown’s signature Fish and Chips, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Pan-roasted Scottish Salmon, or Bangers and Mash.     Disney Purchases More Land in Osceola County for $11 Million

    The Walt Disney Company is expanding its recent purchase of land in Osceola County, FL. The company has now acquired another 1,500 acres of property for $11 million.

    The land borders the previously purchased BK Ranch, located on Old Tampa Highway west of the Poinciana SunRail station. According to the GrowthSpotter, Disney paid $23 million in mid-December for the 965 acres of land southeast of Celebration back in mid December.

    Jerry McGratty, owner of Westhampton Realty and the court-appointed receiver for the property, said Disney was primarily interested in using the land for water management needs and conservation.

    Although the previous purchase of the BK Ranch had been envisioned as a community with homes and commercial space similar to Celebration, McGratty told GrowthSpottter, “I do not believe they will ever develop it.”

    The land was purchased just after the start of the new year from the family of cattle rancher Oren Brown, who refused to sell land to Disney for the original theme park. GrowthSpotter reports that Disney has been trying to purchase the land for more than 50 years.

    5 Children Headed to Disney Among 7 Killed in Florida Crash

    After a fiery crash on a Florida highway on Thursday involving two semi-trucks and at least two passenger vehicles five children bound for Disney World are among the seven dead, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

    FHP officials said in a press release that the crash began when a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle traveling northbound collided.

    According to the press release, after the collision, both vehicles crashed through the guardrail into the southbound lanes. That’s when a second semi-truck and a passenger van, both southbound, collided with the first semi-truck. The van overturned, ejecting some occupants, and both trucks caught on fire.

    Five of the children, ranging from about 8 to teenagers – from a Pentecostal church in Marksville, Louisiana – and the two truck drivers died. At least eight others were injured, some seriously.

    “It is a heartbreaking event,” Lt. Patrick Riordan said Friday. Identities of the victims have not been released, but the children were from the Avoyelles House of Mercy. Church officials did not immediately respond to phone calls.

    The accident occurred on a clear day along a straight, flat stretch of Interstate 75 outside Gainesville, the home of the University of Florida.

    The cause of that crash remains under investigation.
