  • Sneak Peek: Riviera Resort’s Interactive Water Play Area

Sneak Peek: Riviera Resort’s Interactive Water Play Area

When Disney’s Riviera Resort opens in December 2019 families will find it’s filled with many new places to make memories. And today, we have a sneak peek at Riviera Resorts interactive water play area – S’il Vous Play.

Styled after the public fountains found throughout Europe, S’il Vous Play draws it’s inspiration from the 1940 Disney classic, “Fantasia.” This interactive water play area will provide young guests the perfect place for fun in the sun, surrounded by fanciful creatures.

Inspired by the “Dance of the Hours” in “Fantasia,” S’il Vous Play features elephants filling dump buckets with their trunks, dancing ostriches, and hippos splashing water into decorative bowls.

As young guests frolic in the water and zoom down slides, older guests may even spot the playful references to the animated film’s classical music, which featured the works of many European composers.

Stay tuned for more news on this new DVC resort and a Sneak Peek of the rooms coming soon! Contact me at Kimberly’s Kingdom to book your next family stay.

  • New “Beauty and the Beast”-Inspired Lounge Coming to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

New “Beauty and the Beast”-Inspired Lounge Coming to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Tie your napkin around your neck, because Disney is bringing a new “Beauty and the Beast”-inspired lounge to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa this fall as we have previously reported and now we have a name.

Located on the second floor of the lobby, this re-imagined lounge will be called Enchanted Rose and will celebrate the magic and romance of Disney’s popular live-action movie.

Formerly Mizner’s Lounge and Commander Porter’s, the new lounge will feature four unique spaces inspired by Belle and the Beast. The signature bar will glow from the light of a magnificent gold chandelier that takes its inspiration from Belle’s flowing ball gown, with subtle nods to the Beast’s magical rose. The formal library showcases classical baroque designs and French furnishings inspired by Belle, with hints of the Beast’s friends. The garden room will be a whimsical space that draws its inspiration from the enchanted forest surrounding Beast’s castle. And an outdoor patio will evoke the romance of Beast’s garden terrace.

It’s the latest new Disney magic coming to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. In February, we announced a new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location will open this summer at the beloved and picturesque resort hotel located on the banks of the Seven Seas Lagoon.

With charm and elegance to be found around every turn, this quaint bar and lounge will be the place where you can put our service to the test and share a tale as old as time.

  • Boy Gets Surprise Trip to Disney After Spending Vacation Money to Feed Hurricane Evacuees

Boy Gets Surprise Trip to Disney After Spending Vacation Money to Feed Hurricane Evacuees

Six-year-old Jermaine Bell of Jacksonville, Fla., spent more than a year saving money for his birthday trip to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. However, as hurricane Dorian approached the South Carolina coast, Jermaine decided to use his money to help those in need.

Jermaine emptied his piggy bank and bought hundreds of hot dogs, bags of chips and bottled water. He served them free of charge to hurricane evacuees who passed through the South Carolina town where he was visiting his grandmother.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, Jermaine celebrated his seventh birthday. Mickey Mouse and a group of Walt Disney World cast members made a surprise visit at the birthday party where Jermaine learned that he and his family are going to Walt Disney World after all as you can see in the video below:

“When Mickey came out, I was just really happy,” he said in a video from Disney.

Millions of people have since been inspired by the story of this little boy’s selfless act of compassion. It seems Mickey took notice too! Less than a week after closing up his hurricane hot dog stand, Disney employees showed up outside of an interview with “Good Morning America” to deliver his gift in person. He even got a hug from the Mouse himself.

Jermaine and his family will visit the Orlando parks sometime later this month when he’s not in school. But knowing he helped hundreds of people makes it worth the wait.

  • Walt Disney Company to Donate $1 Million Plus to The Bahamas Relief and Recovery Efforts in

Walt Disney Company to Donate $1 Million Plus to The Bahamas Relief and Recovery Efforts in

The Walt Disney Company, led by Disney Cruise Line, has committed more than $1 million in cash and in-kind support to help relief and recovery efforts for those in The Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.

“The Walt Disney Company stands with the people of The Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company.  “We hope our $1 million donation will provide much-needed relief and help our neighbors, colleagues and all those impacted by this devastating storm begin the long process of recovery as they work to put their lives and communities back together.”

Disney’s commitment includes a $1 million donation to nonprofit relief agencies who will be undertaking recovery and rebuilding efforts, as well as the provision of supplies—including food staples and basic construction materials—to those in impacted areas.

Additionally, Disney employees with immediate needs in impacted areas of The Bahamas will have access to a range of resources. Disney Castaway Cay, which experienced only tropical force strength winds, employs more than 60 Bahamians from Abaco and Grand Bahama, as well as several employees from other Bahamian islands.

“The Bahamas is such a special place to us and our guests, and we have watched the devastation created by Hurricane Dorian with concern and heartache,” Jeff Vahle, president of Disney Cruise Line said. “We stand with the Bahamian people, and especially those in Abaco and Grand Bahama, as they recover from the worst storm to ever make landfall in The Bahamas. As the needs in these communities are assessed, we are prepared to aid the relief and recovery efforts through funding, the provision of supplies and by providing support to our Bahamian Crew Members.”

Disney continues to monitor Hurricane Dorian and will coordinate on an ongoing basis with nonprofit organizations on emergency response efforts. This includes sharing lifesaving information with families before and during emergencies, prepositioning supplies at-the-ready to respond rapidly to natural disasters, and providing resources to activate large-scale responses as needed in the event of a disaster.
