YouTuber Gets Jail Time After Active Shooter Prank at Disney World Resort

A 22-year-old Arizona man was arrested early Monday after he falsely told guests at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort that there was an active shooter inside the hotel so he could record their reactions for his YouTube channel, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the affidavit, Dillion Burch was running up to guests at Disney’s Contemporary Resort shortly after midnight and telling them to evacuate because there was a shooter.

Burch, who was “highly intoxicated”, then told the people he was joking and wanted to see what their reactions were for a school project, according to the affidavit.

Eventually a manager approached Burch and asked him why, he said he was working on a school project in which he had to record people’s reactions when they find out an emergency is happening, deputies said.

According to the report, the manager explained to him that he couldn’t do that and that deputies were on their way to speak with him. Burch then walked out of the hotel lobby and when he saw deputy’s lights, he began running into the parking lot.

Deputies arrived and found Burch in some bushes, the report said. Burch was searched and taken into custody by deputies. During the search, authorities located a beer in his red backpack, deputies said.

Burch was evicted from his hotel room and banned from Walt Disney World property, the report said. He was charged with disturbing the peace at a public lodging and disorderly intoxication.

During his first appearance Tuesday, Burch pleaded no contest to both charges and was sentenced to three days in jail.

  • After Internet Confusion Disney World Is NOT Reversing Resort Parking Fees

After Internet Confusion Disney World Is NOT Reversing Resort Parking Fees

As we reported Wednesday Walt Disney World will begin charging guests a fee for overnight parking at their resorts as of March 21, 2018. They have received serious backlash over the new fee and after a brief ‘glitch” on the Disney World official website, the new updated pricing information was missing causing a bit of excitement for many guests.

Don’t get too excited yet though because, if you check the official Walt Disney World Parking page you will see the new overnight parking fees are back and aren’t going anywhere. Well…  More like, if they disappear from the site again, it doesn’t mean they’ve changed their minds.

For a moment earlier on Thursday it simply said “Standard self-parking at Resort hotels is complimentary for Resort Guests. Valet parking is available at select Disney Deluxe Resorts for $25 per day.” You can see the apparent internet mishap in the picture below .

    Disney Parking Fee

The internet quickly blew up with people hoping that Disney had listened to complaints, but Disney isn’t usually in the habit of reversing decisions like this after they have become public.

Maybe Stitch ate the page and they had to make a new one. In any event, the change is permanent and still coming in March. Disney World’s website now again lists the full details of the resort overnight parking fees. You can take a look at the full break down of pricing details here.

  • New Documents Raise Questions About A Possible Name Change For Epcot

New Documents Raise Questions About A Possible Name Change For Epcot

With the massive changes and reimagining of Disney’s Epcot, could the park also be getting a new name? Recently some official documents have come to light that show a new name for the park.

In the documents, the park is referred to as “Epcot World Center.”  This is just pure speculation at this point, but it’s based in some pretty sound reasoning. These are official documents and for legal reasons names are usually extremely accurate.

Paperwork to alter Epcot’s parking lot was filed by Disney earlier this month.  The plans shift parking to the east making room on the west side for new buildings and an 84-acre lake. It is suspected that these new buildings are the rumored Epcot entrance resort and it looks like the company has settled on area behind Living Seas pavilion for the resort.

There is no official word on the possible resort, but an equally interesting fact is the possible new name found on these documents first reported by Blog Mickey.  They saw the name after they zoomed in on the images and it certainly begs the question… Does Disney have some sort of name change in mind?

On the documents, the name is located in Future World right over spaceship earth, so it would seem it refers to the entire park and not just the World Showcase. It’s really a small change and Epcot is still in the name, but it certainly wouldn’t be the first name change for the park.

When the park first opened in 1982 it was known as “EPCOT Center”. Then in 1994 and 1995 the parks name was changed to “Epcot ’94” and “Epcot ’95” respectively. The annual name change didn’t last long and since that time the park has been known simply as “Epcot”.

It’s not immediately clear how “Epcot World Center” as a name, would tie into Future World, but perhaps with the addition of The Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster and the rest of the changes coming to the park, it will make more sense once the entire park has gone though its full reimagination.

It’s kind of nice to see “Center” back in the name and it’s a far better name than some of the recent names that had been thrown around for a possible Hollywood Studios name change.  Disney has since put the rumor to bed stating that “Disney’s Hollywood Studios name will remain the same for the foreseeable future“.

Though the name on the documents hardly seems an accident we will still have to wait and see if there is any official word from Disney about a name change.

  • New Epcot Resort Planned Inside Park Could Land In Front of Spaceship Earth

New Epcot Resort Planned Inside Park Could Land In Front of Spaceship Earth

Walt Disney World is getting a new resort that could be located inside Epcot and would give guests a direct entrance into the park according to multiple online reports.  Depending on where it ends up being located it might even be connected to Epcot’s monorail loop.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to roll out of bed and just stroll into the park, or call it a night early and watch Illumination from your balcony. If rumours prove to be true it just might happen.

Disney has recently announced a massive overhaul of Future World including the upcoming addition of the new Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster which will replace the Universe of Energy and this might be the perfect time for such an addition to the park. If Disney was looking for sure way to increase attendance to Epcot then adding a Resort inside the park isn’t a bad idea.

There are two possible locations Disney is considering.  The first location would be right at the main gate and would be the easiest to connect to existing monorail lines. Having a resort right in front of Spaceship Earth would be amazing, but how it might affect the park aesthetically immediately comes to mind.  Disney is the best when it comes to design so there is no doubt they will find a way to incorporate it without detracting from the park’s famous icon.

The second proposed location would be on the west side of future world in the area between The Seas and The land. This also would make for a convenient entrance and still not be an eyesore in any way.  It might not be as easy to connect to the monorail there, but there would probably be much better views of World Showcase Lagoon and Illuminations.

While a hotel in an actual park would be new to Walt Disney World, the company already has two such hotels at Disney’s California Adventure and Disneyland Paris.

The plans are still in the early stages of development so things could easily change. But the possibility of a hotel in a Walt Disney World theme has fans really excited.

  • Star Wars Themed Resort Coming to Walt Disney World

Star Wars Themed Resort Coming to Walt Disney World

At Disney the resort experience is out of this world, but they now have plans for a resort that comes from a galaxy far far way. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced to fans at D23 Expo last summer that a “Star Wars” hotel will be coming to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

According to Bob, this revolutionary new vacation experience will be a living adventure that allows guests to immerse themselves in an entirely new form of Disney storytelling.

    Star Wars Resort

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

    Star Wars Resort

Chapek didn’t reveal a date for the opening of the “Star Wars” hotel, but with the new themed land coming to Disney World in 2018, it probably can’t be too far behind.
