Fantastic Finn Footage in NEW Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer

Not so calmingly coming out of a coma we finally get to see extra footage of John Boyega’s and it is intense. With the release of the movie just over a month away, Disney and Lucasfilm are in full-blown promotion mode. With that, a brand new TV spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been released. It’s only a thirty second spot, but if packs a good force push. Still it actually gives us quite a bit to chew on and adds a little extra layer to Rey with one, very interesting shot.

Finn was badly injured at the end of The Force Awakens; however, we knew he would be waking up at some point since we’ve seen him in his bacta suit, which was helping him heal and we’ve seen him in disguise as a First Order officer, taking on his former supervising officer Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) head-on, as well as piloting a ship on the new planet Crait. Now, we get to see him come to, screaming. This cuts to a shot of Finn still wearing the suit and his First Order of business is fining out where Rey is ans he confronts Poe Dameron.

Pre-order your tickets at Fandango while you still can.  It was recently confirmed that Oscar Isaac will return as Poe Dameron in Star Wars 9. The only other actor officially confirmed to return is John Boyega. So he probably comes out of his fight with Captain Phasma with all his limbs in tact. We can’t say the same for Phasma. There are good odds that neither she nor Lt. Hux will make it past the end credits of The Last Jedi. This latest extended TV spot has some awesome new space footage with ships going to war. You can check out all the excitement here.

  • Disney reveals name of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge planet

Disney reveals name of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge planet

While Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge won’t arrive to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disneyland until 2019, but the creative team behind the new planet they’re building now has a name. Be prepared to visit Batuu, a planet on the edge of the Star Wars galaxy.

The detail was revealed to visitors to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at both the Orlando and California parks on Friday morning. Visitors riding the ride found themselves landing unexpectedly on a planet in the outer rim of the Star Wars galaxy – a planet known to C-3PO, and now to us, as Batuu.

Previously revealed about Batuu has been its back story.

When it opens, the 14-acre area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as its counterpart in California, will take guests into a new planet in the Star Wars universe.

“We wanted to build new Star Wars stories, new Star Wars destinations, but this time you could be in that story that required us to go to a new place,” Trowbridge said at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year. “It’s a new planet. It’s a new place. It’s this remote frontier outpost.” Lucasfilm creative executive Pablo Hildalgo added, “With every new Star Wars story it’s like coming back home but finding a new corner of that home you’ve never explored before. When it came to developing this location…not only figuring out where this place is on the galactic map but what its history has been throughout galactic history.

“It’s been there for thousands and thousands of years,” Hidalgo explained, “You’re going to discover that. You’re going to be able to get a sense of the history of the place when you go there.”

The planet is in the Star Wars universe’s Outer Rim in the Unknown Regions.

“This used to be a vibrant trading port back in the old sub-lightspeed days, but now with advent of hyperspace, its prominence has kind of fallen and faded a little bit which has made it a great spot for those who didn’t want to be on that kind of mainstream path,” Trowbridge said. “The smugglers, the bounty hunters, the rogue adventurers looking to crew up, the people who don’t want to be found — basically all the interesting people.”

The addition to both parks is the largest expansion of any theme park Disney has ever undertaken. It will open at Disneyland first in 2019 followed by Hollywood Studios.

  • Star Wars: Han Solo Grew a Beard After ‘Return of the Jedi’

Star Wars: Han Solo Grew a Beard After ‘Return of the Jedi’

This Friday when Star Wars Battlefront II is released fans will get their first chance to find out what happened to their favorite characters after Return of the Jedi.  This time the game comes with a campaign mode which will offer fans the chance to explore these storylines first hand.

One of the missions features the Star Wars galaxy’s most infamous smuggler Han Solo, and his grooming habits have notably changed. That’s right, Han Solo has a new beard in the game.

Warning: Minor spoilers for Battlefront II below.

While we already know Luke Skywalker also plays a major role in the campaign, which tees off the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in a major way, Han Solo’s mission ties into an issue that stems from the prequel trilogy.

After destroying the second Death Star’s shield generator on Endor, Han decided to help out his best friend and co-pilot Chewbacca in his attempts to rid the Imperial presence on the wookie’s home planet of Kashyyyk. But he needs information first.

Han travels to Takodana and meets Maz Kanata in her castle, where she’s serving drinks to some of the best and brightest scum in the galaxy. So when Han says he goes way back with Maz in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he means it.

Maz chastises Han for not bringing Chewbacca around, and Han admits it’s because Chewie is afraid of her. He admits that they’re on Takodana to get some intel from a defecting Imperial analyst who can give them data on the Empire’s forces on Kashyyyk and Maz gets angry, warning him not to bring the Empire to her front door.

Han meets with the analyst and, of course, things don’t go as planned, forcing the two to mount an escape while evading Stormtroopers and TIE Fighters.

Maz, of course, doesn’t appreciate that Han did the one thing she asked him not to do, but he promises to repay her. After destroying the TIEs with the help of Rebel forces, he and Chewie embark on a quest to liberate Kashyyyk. The game jumps elsewhere at that point, treating Han’s journey as a nice diversion.

Spoiler alert: he doesn’t keep the beard in the future.

Star Wars Battlefront II releases on November 17.

  • Google Maps Exposes the Millennium Falcon Disney Was Trying to Hide

Google Maps Exposes the Millennium Falcon Disney Was Trying to Hide

The Millennium Falcon may have made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, but apparently its stealth mode leaves something to be desired. Han Solo’s famous “Star Wars” spaceship is hidden in plain sight — at least for viewers browsing the satellite views provided by Google Maps.

While “Star Wars” fans have been eagerly awaiting any snippet of information they can gather on the upcoming film “The Last Jedi,” a huge piece of the series has been hiding in plain sight.

Twitter user Kevin Beaumont unearthed an entirely identified flying object while exploring the grounds surrounding film and TV production facility Longcross Studios on Google Maps. The Google service, which allows users to navigate through the streets and natural wonders of the world through countless satellite images, uncovered a view of the Millennium Falcon from above, hidden near the U.K. studio by what appear to be shipping containers.

The large containers completely surround the Falcon, seemingly to prevent passersby from seeing the famed ship in all her glory. In fact, the satellite image shows cars traveling on the road right next to the containers, unaware of the treasure that lies behind them.
Disney’s secretive plan, however, was thwarted by Beaumont, who shared the image on Twitter, adding, “Lol Disney tried to hide the Millennium Falcon by surrounding it with shipping containers. Also, it’s on Google Maps.”

Longcross Studios, which lies just outside of London, has been the site of production for films like “Skyfall,” “Thor 2,” and “Fast and Furious 6,” and presumably plays a role in the making of “The Last Jedi” as well. Evidently, the studio has become a kind of storage facility for the Falcon while it’s not in use, and although the craft has been around since the very first “Star Wars” film, it seems she’ll live to fight another day.
Although we can’t say exactly how the Falcon will be used in the new film, there’s a good chance fans will be able to see the ship in action when “The Last Jedi” premieres on December 15.

In the wake of lower than expected earnings reports, Disney has announced a slew of new programs in the works intended to help jump start their the new Disney streaming service.

Disney is developing a new Marvel television series, a live-action Star Wars television series and a new trilogy of live-action films from a galaxy far, far away under Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer and director Rian Johnson.

The Marvel and Star Wars television series will make their exclusive debut on Disney’s forthcoming streaming service, set to launch in 2019, with the service also poised to offer television series based on Disney/Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. franchise and Disney Channel’s tween-aimed High School Musical franchise. Disney CEO-chairman Bob Iger announced the news Thursday.

Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. grossed $577 million worldwide in 2001, with its prequel, Monsters University, scaring up $744 million worldwide in 2013. Both movies starred John Goodman and Billy Crystal as blue-furred James P. “Sulley” Sullivan and one-eyed Mike Wazowski, respectively, best friends and work partners who work as top employees at Monsters, Inc., Monstropolis’ energy-producing company. One of the most popular franchises under the Pixar brand, Monsters, Inc. has a presence in several of Disney’s theme parks across the globe, including Disney California Adventure, Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland.

Disney launched the High School Musical franchise in 2006, with the rom-com Disney Channel Original Movie giving way to a 2007 TV-movie sequel and a second sequel, 2008’s High School Musical 3: Senior Year, the first installment of the tween musical series to be released theatrically. The franchise will return to the small screen with High School Musical 4 under Jeffrey Hornaday, whI directed Teen Beach Movie and Teen Beach 2 — Disney Channel’s newest craze teen musicals.

  • Live Action Star Wars Series to Air On Disney’s Streaming Service

Live Action Star Wars Series to Air On Disney’s Streaming Service

Star Wars - Fin and Rey

Star Wars is getting the TV treatment with a forthcoming live-action series set to debut on Disney’s digital streaming service. The still-untitled service is set to launch in 2019.

Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO Bob Iger confirmed the project Thursday while on a quarterly earnings call with investors.

Additionally, Iger revealed that new TV series based on the 2001 Pixar film Monsters Inc. (which also spawned the 2013 sequel Monsters University) and the Disney Channel film franchise High School Musical also will debut on the service.

It also was announced that the Star Wars franchise will expand with the launch of a new trilogy of films fromLast Jedi director Rian Johnson. The new movies will be separate from the continuing Skywalker saga and “Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored,” according to an official announcement made by LucasFilm, which is owned by Disney. Johnson will write and direct the first film in the trilogy.

That new trilogy comes as Lucasfilm also has Solo: A Star Wars Story due out May 25, 2018, and director J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX, which is set to bow Dec. 20, 2019. The Last Jedi is slated for release Dec. 15.

In addition to original programming on the streaming service, Iger said on the call that Disney will consider licensing programming from third parties. The exec also noted that ABC Studios could end up producing for the new service. ‘We’ve talked about that a bit,” he said.

Although pricing is still being worked out, the plan is to offer the service for less than the price of Netflix, which currently costs $11 per month for its standard plan.

On the topic of Netflix, Iger noted that he doesn’t necessarily see the streaming service as a competitor but as a means of helping Disney become “a viable player in the direct-to-consumer space, a space that we all know is a very compelling space to be in.”

Disney’s ESPN service, meanwhile, will launch in spring 2018 and will be called ESPN Plus, Iger confirmed Thursday. The service will exclude sports that currently air on ESPN.

While this will mark the first live-action Star Wars TV series, George Lucas’ franchise has spawned five animated series, going all the way back to 1985’s Star Wars: Droids, which aired on ABC (long before ABC and LucasFilm were under the same corporate umbrella), as did the second series, Star Wars: Ewoks. The most recent animated entry, Star Wars Rebels, airs on Disney XD, a sister network of Disney Channel. Next up is Star Wars: Force of Destiny, which will debut on YouTube. Both Rebels and Forces of Destiny are produced by LucasFilm Animation.

Over the years, there have also been three live-action TV specials, most famously the widely lampooned Star Wars: Holiday Special that aired on CBS shortly after the original 1977 film’s release.

News that a Star Wars live-action series will be premiering on Disney’s streaming service has to be disappointing for ABC, which is also owned by Disney. Network president Channing Dungey expressed her optimism about ABC possibly airing a new Star Wars series at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in 2016 and said talks about that possibility were ongoing.
